Hi guys!
Just got back Friday from a little cruise with my best friend and her husband. Heidi and I both turned 50 this year, so we had planned to do something special and chose this little getaway cruise to celebrate.

It left from LA and visited San Diego, Catalina, and Ensenada. We've been to all those places, but it was convenient and affordable - a great little escape!

Here's a pic of all of us overlooking the Bay at Catalina Island. This is a tiny little island just 75 miles off the coast of California.

And here's a great view of the bay itself, with the cruise ship in the distance.

A photo of yours truly, sipping a drink by the pool!

When we were on Catalina, we rented a little golf cart to drive all over town. This is Heidi and Rick:

This little cart helped us discover a hidden beach. It used to be private, but they opened it up to the public recently. It had a little beachside bar, music, and it was like a little Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville paradise!

Back on the boat, the guys were watching the USC game on Thursday night (they lost) so I went and played at the casino. You know me, right? I won!! It was a Wheel of Fortune machine and I won $500 on the spin wheel. Cool, huh? That helped pay for all the drinks and other extras on the cruise.

On Thursday, we went to Ensenada, Mexico. Dan and I went there for our honeymoon 25 years ago. We visited Hussongs Cantina; back then it was THE hopping place to be. Now it's a little run down and kind of scary...

We had drinks and snacks at a different bar, and this man came around with his cart making fresh guacamole. It was fantastic!

The last night of the cruise, we surprised Heidi with a little birthday celebration at dinner. (her birthday is Oct. 1). Heidi and I have known each other for 46 years, and she's the BEST friend anyone could ever have.

It was a fun little escape, but now it's time to get back to work. Need to save some money for my next trip!
