yep...we had to take Daddy's license away and his keys to his beloved truck when he was OFFICIALLY diagnosed with Lewy-Body. Reason being is that the doctor is bound by law (in this state) to submit his info to the State as having a dementia and not being able to react to certain driving conditions AND that it is her opinion that he not be allowed to drive.

If he DID and if he had an accident, we the caregivers, along with Mother, were liable. What if he killed himself or someone else? We discussed it and knew we couldn't live with that. So we took the keys, and we took his license. We then made ourselves readily available whenever he wanted to go somewhere. It was hard, but after a while, he got use to NOT driving...only because the dementia got worse of course.
