I get 80+ spams a day, sometimes 5+ of the same thing. Any way to block this stuff? Toooo many porn sites and nasty stuff showing up. My computer screen is not the place for it!

My email provider has a spam-protection feature that holds all suspected spam on the server until I log in and check it out. I don't even have to open any of it, I just scroll through to check to make sure nothing legitimate has been caught in the spam-catcher, then delete everything. So we rarely ever see any spam on our actual home computer. It's such a handy program. Actually, just the other day I configured mine to auto-delete all incoming spam, because for the past six months, I haven't seen any legitimate emails get caught there. It's a bit risky, since there's always the possibility of missing something legitimate, but I get over 100 spam a day, and just don't have time to go through it all.

Most email providers have similar spam features - check yours out and see if there's something server-side you can configure to keep the spam from downloading onto your computer.

When I first moved and changed internet providers I chose a very simple e-mail address jane@bellsouth.net I was amazed that it was available with all the Janes in the world. I quickly found out why...the spammers evidently liked the name a lot! I got as many as 200 spams per day. I called the company and complained repeatedly but there was nothing they could do...then a friend suggested that I create another e-mail address and quit using that one completely.

Duh, I rarely get unsolicited mail anymore. Long story short...if your address is very easy, you might want to consider changing your address to one that is a bit more complex.

It worked for me.

Good ideas. I use google email (gmail) and they have a great spam filter. They also have lots of other great features that I love.

I also change up my email address occasionally - at first I thought it would confuse my friends, but now most providers make it so easy to add addresses and change addresses.

have a couple email accounts with yahoo.com & one connected to my imac with safari browser ... both have great spam filters. imac is mucho better.
yahoo has spam filters you can set also, so it helps greatly.

plus, keep my highly sensitive 'norton symatic' system on to constanly guard against the 'nasties' ... am thankful for all the protection. i don't let my computer go anywhere i would not want to personally go ... period.
