Remember the neighbor across the way from me, who is not in good health and I always take her dishes I've created. She loves my food. Well recently she hired a caregiver who is in her 50's and very nice. Her son is a chef somewhere in CA. He came up for the weekend and brought everything needed for a Crawfish Fry. He made the entire meal authentic Cajun style. I nearly burst from eating. It was delicious and reminded me when I lived in Maryland and we use to get crabs served on newspaper with hush puppies and coleslaw, eat until we could barely move. He will be coming up once a month and making authentic Cajun dishes for us all. It is so nice to have someone else cooking....

How wonderful. I remember going out east for the first time and over=endulging in a clam bake. Clams, lobster, corn, cornbread and sweets. Sounc like the same type of idea.

Chatty, what a nice switch for you.

I live in Maryland so I know all about great seafood. We had crab cakes last week. Yum!

I visited Boston once and ate my way through the city. Also went to New Orleans 3 times - the best ever food!

Saundra, I love New Orleans food. My sister lived there for several years. I was with her this weekend. She told me she has the best gumbo recipe ever. When she sends it to me, I'll post it.

I was addicted to the crab cakes and seafood chowder when living in Maryland for three years. We ate the crawfish served on newspaper with hush pppies and coleslaw twice a week at least and never passed a spiced shrimp stand on the side of road without stopping for a bag of hot spiced shrimp....so good!! I am a seafood junkie, of all kind. I could easily live on nothing else but seafood and vegetables.

Shhhhhh, dont tell, must have chocolate too!

I love hush puppies and shrimp! A local restaurant serves platters with lightly battered shrimp, hush puppies, slaw, and your choice of either baked potato, fries, or sweet potatoe fries! I love those sweet potatoe fries! I'm so hungry now! Speaking of food, we're having barbicue chicken delivered to the office tomorrow!

Chatty, we love steamed shrimp with the Old Bay seasoning. We had some for dinner Tuesday night with a slad and fresh bread. Yum.

Mustang, enjoy your lunch!

Dotsie, looking forward to that gumbo recipe. I stopped eating pork and shellfish/crustaceans(sp?) a few years ago and nothing replaces those tastes. Sometimes higher spice levels help. High cholesterol and I decided to adhere to the Jewish dietary laws again after being a bad girl for decades. Just reading about the food drives me crazy I miss it so much!
