MustangGal .... I do know of several. You are right to do your homework and check around. Be sure you go and ride,play with the horse of your choice. Make sure ::::::: you and have the vet of your choice to examine it BEFORE you adopt. It is so important that you do this! Check these folks out they are great.!!! I do adoption inspections for them. When the time comes and your are ready to get your new baby ,someone from either Habitat for Horses/Lone Star Equine rescue will gladly point you in the right direction. http://www.lser.org/horsesavailable.htm ......Also your area may be the perfect perfect place to start. If you can save a horse at your local auction from being bought by a blankety-blank killer buyers then you have made a great rescue ...Check your local paper too.
