I'm on a clear liquid diet today as my colonoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I've bought magazines to read as I'll probably spend the majority of the night in the bathroom.

I want to encourage all of you to have this done. It's a number one killer. I had polyps the last time that thankfully, were benign but I now have to be careful and have the routine every three years. The prep is worse than the procedure but even then, it isn't bad. If nothing else, you get cleaned out really well.

There are no real symptoms to let you know you have colon cancer until it's very serious and it's something that can be stopped and handled. If you wait too long, it's much more serious and deadly so please, take the time to schedule your colonoscopy this year. It could save your life.

Dianne, have a lovely day! Thanks for sharing. You reminded me that I need to have this done this fall. It was recommended by my doctor when I had diverticulitis from E.coli poisoning this summer, but since injuring my knee, I've forgotten.

I guess tomorrow will be a low key day for you. Give into it and make the most of being cared for.

Good luck Dianne...I couldn't agree more. My Daddy use to call the 'Go Lightly' stuff you have to drink, "Go Quickly."

It isn't fun, but it can be a live saver! I'll be thinking of you.

Dianne,

Thanks for the timely reminder. Not something we usually want to think about...but definitely something we need to take care of.

Just curious. Is this a "must do" on par with mammograms?

A person should have one every 5-10 years and more often if they found polyps. I had polyps. Glad I had it done and they were found tho.

Thank you for the reminder. I have been putting off both the colononscopy and the mamogram for several years. It is now on my calendar to schedule it for this fall.

Good Luck Dianne, I do my faithful "drink" every 5 years. It is worth the peace of mind.

Hi, Dianne: Many thanks for the reply and will speak to my daughter about this. In the meantime, I hope that all goes well with your procedure.
