Many of you have probably heard of Salem, Massachusetts. If you have, you know Salem is a historical place known for the witch trials of years ago and the statue of Samantha, the TV witch that was recently erected in Salem.

Living near Salem, I generally avoid the city during the entire month of October due to the crowds of people who visit for all the events and celebrations that go on in that month. The biggest event of the year is the Halloween Ball held at the historic Hawthorne Hotel. I just won two tickets to the ball for this year. I've never been. It's a big gala event. I'm usually pretty good at coming up with costumes, but for this, we need something special and will probably rent them. Any ideas? We should probably go as some famous couple. I'm thinking Scarlett & Rhett, but the outfit could be cumbersome. I'm also thinking of booking a room at the hotel for the night if one is still available. Getting in and out of the city will be difficult and parking almost impossible.

Whoa - with a list like that you don't need any more help. Book the hotel room now, pick out the costumes now and enjoy the celebration. Sounds like a lot of fun, and I don't even like Halloween very much.

Hi Lousia, sounds like a fun party you are going to. I know Salem very well. It's a beautiful city. My brother lives in Beverly, Ma.
In Germany, we celebrate Fasching. That's similar to Madigra, and you see the wildest costumes. Here are two German links…just to get ideas for costumes.
