Hi all, I am curious to know how you all found yourselves here? I will tell you how I found this site. I was posting on another forum and the owner had told us about this site. This was Sher at momandhermoney.com. She had said that she was gone for awhile and had been posting here and to quote her, "I've never seen anything like this." Of course, nosey me, I just had to look and voila, here I am! This is the best community to be at with plenty of inspiration to go around. I love you all alot! Cheers Cathi

I was very lost, broken and desperately lonely. I had never been involved in any online groups before, but out of desperation I posted in a psych forum that I found by simply Googling "HELP ME". I was fortunate enough that one woman from another forum befriended me, invited me to her forum, where I found a safe and supportive community. But it was very slow-paced, too controversial for me at times, and after a while, I began to "spread my wings" to see if there might be other support groups out there in cyberland.
Then Sigrid MacDonald, someone I met here in Ottawa via a mutual friend, and a member of this community, included the link to BWS in one of her emails to me. I came, I read, I wept, I spilled my lonely story, and the rest, well, the rest is nothing short of a living miracle. There isn't enough space to share here what an AMAZING, life-changing place these women and forums have been for me.
So ultimately, because of my spirituality, I have to believe that it was a God-who-loves-me-more-than-I-could-possibly-imagine who was the One to lead this broken, lost, lonely me to this place!

I had a major surgery in May and was a member of an online group which related to my procedure. One of the women in the group suggested BWS for the over 50's who were seeking to enhance friendships which have arisen out of the medical circumstances we have found ourselves in. So, here I am celebrating the discovery of a fantastic group of women where the dynamics allow one to share at temporal and spiritual levels. For the latter, I am both connected and grateful for kindred spirits.

I belong to the Womenheart.org website (which is also good for those of us that have heart disease), and guess what? I saw a post from "Yepthatsme" recommending BWS. And here I am! Thanks Yepthatsme!

I used the Myss site for a while and was befriended by another woman who had become a good friend. There were issues between posters (male dominated) at that time.I enjoyed Myss but there was a veiled threat when another posted about me.No senior Moderator helped in fact talked about the males who to quote had "Issues around their sexuality " I stopped my posting feeling if this Moderator could speak about them then she could do the same to me. I think Dotsie oes a wonderful job....she has skills and manners. My friend from Myss dirested me here. Thank you Janice. Long may he good ethos live here. Mountain ash

Madalyn,
Welcome...tell us more about yourself!
I got here by following a 'thread' to someone's web site and saw that she was a NABBW member...that got me here...it took a lot of crooks and turns...but that's essentially it...

I was looking around for a site where authors chat. I beelined to the writers forums and decided to register because I wanted to ask established authors what they thought of my book title. I think my first post was … "This is a test." Now how exciting is that? Little was I aware that this is a Women's Boomer site. What a wonderful surprise it was when I discovered the other forums. Okay, now I can tell you I'm sixteen years old and male. Ha ha…that was a joke! I swear…It was supposed to be a funny. No Dotsie…don't kick me out! Ask Lola, … we talked on the phone!

I ventured from Denver Colorado to the rural town of Chanute Kansas, to participate in a biz expo put on by the infamous "Sher" (mentioned in the first post)...we instantly clicked, and she told me about BWS.
I came, I looked, I too stayed.
I then had the HONOR to meet Dotsie in Maryland that summer..the rest is history...I've been in love ever since!

I was reading the Times Daily (Alabama Newspaper) online and came across one Georgia Richardson who was writing for Women of the Shoals(am I right JJ). I went to her website and found the link to here. I lurked for a few days and when I was comfortable, I logged on. It was my first and still only forum. Like TVC, I was welcomed warmly by JJ, Pam, Dotsie and others. I'll never forget it.
Madalyn, you will enjoy this site as much as we do. It is really a great place to unwind, laugh, cry, share and be silly, sometimes all in the same day. Passing a warm welcome on to you.

Hi jawjaw~~ Do they call you JJ on here? I've been to Morgantown one time. It's a nice town. Have you been there? West Virginia University in Morgantown is where lots of kids from this area go to school. I've been to Talladega Alabama for the Big Race. I really liked Alabama! Thanks for the Welcome. I'm enjoying getting to know you girls.

I saw this site in AARP 1-1/2 years ago and had started writing my book. I checked out the site, saw posts about writing and got excited because I had nobody else to talk to about writing. Then I read the other posts and was hooked. This is the first forum I have ever joined. I never understood what people meant when they spoke about online forums but I do now. I'm ever grateful for my boomer sistas 'cause I don't have sistas of my own.
