Seven years ago, desperate and alone, I begged God to change me. He obliged, and began revealing broken places long ago hidden. Revisiting them was, at times, unbearable. He was like a delicate surgeon removing a cancer deep within my soul.

Enter…Sister Maureen. We met on a weekend retreat. She was a spirit that radiated with peace and joy. I wanted to be in her company at every opportunity. When greeting me she would cup my face in her hands. Ordinarily that would be too intimate and uncomfortable. But this was different. I couldn’t explain it. It was a feeling I had never experienced before.

Two days later I saw it--a picture of Jesus surrounded by children…a little girl standing before him, her face cupped in his hands!

From deep within, tears, long stored up, were now released. Healing tears. God had cupped my face in his hands, “You are not alone, you are mine, and you are blessed.”

Linda, I have that picture (of Jesus cupping that little girl's face in His hands). Someone gave it to me over 30 years ago, and it's followed me everywhere I've lived since then (and I've moved around a lot!) It's still hanging on my wall, faded, but still as comforting as always. It's such a tender, compassionate, loving image. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful, healing blessing in your life.
