CONTROLLING KITCHEN ODORS

To dispel strong cooking odors, such as cabbage, place a dish of vinegar on or near the stove...

Cover unpleasant odors with appetizing ones. Onions frying in butter will mask almost any other cooking odor. If you don't need the onions right away, they will keep in the refrigerator for several days...

To remove odors from a cutting board after cutting onions or garlic or fish, rub salt on the board, let sit a couple minutes then rinse...

Cutting board odors can also be removed by rubbing with a slice of lemon or lime...

Freshen the garbage disposal with lemon or orange peels...

Eliminate musty refrigerator odors by placing a small open box of baking soda inside frig and freezer. The old soda can be used as a light scouring powder...

Also pour used baking soda down the sink to clean the pipes...

Clean thermos bottles, coffee pots, etc. by rinsing with warm water mixed with two to three tablespoons of baking soda...

Remove fish odors from hands by washing in salted or lemon water...

After you extract the juice from a lemon, save the peels for other uses. Freeze any you do not plan to use immediately...

To remove odors from plastic containers, stuff with black and white newsprint, cover tightly and leave overnight. Then remove and wash with warm saopy water...
