My kitty is, well, throwing up a lot lately. She eats Purina hairball formula (crunchy), she is 12 years old, yet the vet says she has nothing wrong w/ her and I'm tired of spending $$$ to hear that. This has been going on for a year.

When I open a new bag of food, she loves it and will not vomit for a week or so. Yet, after the bag is "old" (even though it is sealed) she begins to vomit. She simply eats, and as soon as I leave the room, she does this, then goes on as if nothing has happened.

So, I ask how may I remedy this? Place her food in a tupperware type container? Move her food bowl to another location (presently on shelve in laundry room to keep dog away and she has to jump up to eat).

I've also tried supplements like kitty snacks for hairballs, yet this makes it worse.

I'm open to all suggestions! Thx.

Humm, perplexing. How about buying smaller bags of food so it seems newer longer or opening it up and as you say, put it into tupperware containers keeping it fresh longer. I have to admit I have never heard of this before. could something be getting into the food like dust or maybe something from the laundry? Try moving the bowl somewhere else like the kitchen counter.

I don't know if this is any help, because we had something of the same problem with our puppy. But it may be worth a shot!
Cookie was throwing up from eating crunchy food--
we mix abit of canned food in so she will take longer in eating it.
Could it be because of age & maybe you have to change the type of food?
Hope you find a solution soon!!! [Smile]

Did the Vet do an X-Ray?

Dianne, no X-ray was taken, he just "felt" around. Sometimes it seems she is starving, so upon feeding she eats very rapidly and then Ralphs! So, I'm going to try to keep her bowl full so that she does not gorge herself and try this for a week.

When my cat got so sick, they finally X-Rayed her at my urging. That's when they found the problem. How is your cat's blood work?

In my pet-owning experience, it's not uncommon for cats to throw up right after they eat, especially if they wolfed the food down. I think there may be a physiological reason for this, but I can't remember what it is.

Is she acting starved even when she recently ate? That would seem to be a symptom of something.

Have her checked for tape worms....similar symptoms. Something is happening from the time she eats and the time the food is or is not being digested. Get a second opinion, vets are a lot like doctors, some are good and some are lousy....
