I just want to say that I have the most wonderful husband in the world.
Saturday was my birthday and I got coffee in bed, chocolates and diamonds. Plus the long suffering soul let me drag him to a craft fair after which he made me dinner and we ate the cake he baked -from scratch
But that isn't what makes him wonderful- we were both married before and we had our ways but he accepted my sons, loves them lends them money, yells at them when they need it
He is the neatest man in the world and I am "his mess" He can always tell when I'm in his kitchen because on the very rare occasions I cook I wreck the place looking for stuff
He has supported me through three operations, menopause hell and several job changes
He may be no one's idea of prince charming but he makes me feel like a queen
At 39 years of age when I met him I finally knew what love was- that you don't have to give up yourself to love, that you can be scattered and stubborn andme and find a man that can make you laugh and feel cherished. The last 15 years of my life have been the most wonderful and I don't know what I did to deserve him but I'm glad he's mine

Happy birthday, Pattyann (it's never too late!) Sounds like you had such a lovely day. I would fall in love with your hubby, but I've got a wonderful one of my own that I think I'll keep...they actually sound a lot alike, so you know what I mean.

Well alrighty thennnn...we're getting somewhere. Does this said brother have the same qualities as said Prince Charming? hmmm? If so, my next question would be does this said brother like short, fluffy women? Who don't cook?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTY! May you have 100 more and they all be as wonderful as this one!

Yep, the best present and like Don always reminds me- he's the best thing that ever happened to me
Now JJ- in an effort to make you my new sister in law I have to say there is a snag that Bro is in the process of divorcing so I cannot in all honesty get my matron of honor dress bought yet BUT- once this all clears up I will put you to the head of my matchmaking line
He cooks too- likescw music- plays in a blue grass band- I know, I know- just want ya to keep it in mind for later [Razz] [Big Grin] [Smile]

Have quite a good man myself (he of the make lemonade from construction worker lemons fame.) Although, I AM going to have to mention to him about Pattyann's birthday extraordinaire.
Last year, mine took me on a 10-mile hike. Okay, so it did end at a natural hot spring in the middle of nowhere, and with nobody around, skinny dipping ensued! My gosh, the stuff I admit to you ladies! [Big Grin]

Happy belated birthday, Pattyann... I've never gotten diamonds, so do tell us more!!!

Fiftyandfine, I could have done without the 10-mile hike. But that dip in the hot springs afterward...whoooheee (is that how you spell it?). Now if I were to put that little spark in Hubby's brain, who knows where he'd take me next birthday! I have to go Google "secluded natural hot springs" and start leaving travel brochures around...

Pattyann, thanks for jumping in with a great marriage story. I am tickled for you. Everyone deserves to feel like a queen. You lucky duck. Give him a great big boomer hug for us.

Chick is back. Yahoo. I loved seeing her fancy displays of kindness.

My husband surprised me on my 50th. Told me we were going to NY for a conference and I'm all cranky because I didn't want to turn 50 listening to speakers. I'm so ditzy and not paying attention that I didn't notice they checked our passports. I finally woke up and asked David why we needed passports to go to NY and he said it was a flight that was stopping in NY and then, going overseas. I actually believed him. So we get on the plane and I notice the flight crew is speaking French and he finally said, I have good news and bad news. The good news is we're going to London and Paris and the bad news is we can only be there four days. I started bawling! What a trip! What a birthday present! And, he topped it the following year. He took me to St. Tropez. The man never ceases to surprise me with wonderful ideas he's put a lot of effort and money into.

Sounds mundane when compared to some of the gifts but to me anything my husbands (3) would get for me meant two things, they remembered and went out of their way to get something they thought I would like. Some men undoubtedly are not as romantic or inventive as others are, but bless the ones that remember our special days at all.... [Big Grin]

My hubby is one of those sweeties who remembers everything and celebrates. My youngest son, one of his friends and I went to Philly Thursday night and Friday to look at colleges. When we arrived home last night there was a welcome home note on the door. Sweet, huh? There's nothing like romantic, thoughtful men. I pray our boys have learned by his example.
