Used to love to play with these. Cut out dolls and their clothes. Put the tabs around the doll to hold on the dresses. Don't see much of these anymore. Seems the magnet-like ones are more popular. Managed to find a couple of these books to send to my granddaughters.

Oh wow I had dozens of them...The ones I remember best were Veronica and Betty of the Archie comic books. Then of course Princess's or movie stars and Shirley Temple. You're right they are almost impossible to find today.

I loved paper dolls too. My favorites were the ones my Mom would make for me...she'd draw the "doll" and I'd design the clothes. Chatty I believe I also had the Veronica & Betty ones!

Gosh...I haven't thought of paper dolls in years. Thanks for the memory Scorpio!! [Wink]

Oh, yeah! Paper dolls. I had so much fun with mine. It was a blast trying on all the different outfits. I was so careful to keep them away from my younger sisters and brother so the outfits didn't get torn.

I had forgotten all about Paper dolls. They were great. I used to make my own outfits for mine. I guess kids now-a-days can just use a computer but I think they are missing out on a lot of imagination type fun!
I'm glad you were able to find some for your granddaughters Scorpio! Maybe they'll show their friends and Paper Dolls will make a comeback!

I remember being frustrated when I punched them out and they tore. Did that happen to anyone else?

I used to play with paper dolls by the hour. Like many of you, I designed my own clothes for them. I think the cutout kind were even hard to find 20 years ago, when my daughter would have been interested.

If memory serves, there was a company called Dover Publications that was still selling paper dolls. I got some to do research for clothing when I was writing a book set in the 1920's. I'll check and see if they're on the internet.

What fun! I had my collections in decorated shoeboxes. Period paperdolls were my favorites. I have printed out many sets of paperdolls from online sites, for my granddaughter, who just loves them. Here's a link to a nicely done, hand-drawn Scarlett O'Hara, doll and outfits, you may print out:

And here's a link to hand drawn Classic Movie Stars:

These print out nicely, and are large enough to be handled by, and dressed by little fingers.

What a great site Jeannine! Thanks for sharing!
I take back what I said about the computers!
