Dancing Dolphin Member Registered: 03/06/06 Posts: 2529 Loc: Southern California	I took my son to a Star Wars Game Conference a year or so ago. So many of those kids want to work in that environment. But we talked to a few actual programmers, and most of these kids just don't understand what's involved. You have to be SO patient, because making a game can take more than a year. And you're usually only working on one part of it, like the "skins" or the "sets", so they don't really get to play like they think they do. One programmer said you have to "live and breath" programming if you want to make it a career.

Google pays for their employees to get graduate degrees at Stanford. Not bad, huh? When this kid's dad told me the story, he joked about how he was forever telling his kid to take a break from the screen while he was growing up. One never knows!
