I am the mother of three children, all of whom are in different school systems. I am interested in knowing other mother's thoughts on deciding what is the best school choice for their children.

I have found that many people are wrapped up in this prestige thing that is going on out there and I find it repulsive. Just because a child goes to a private or Catholic school does not mean that they are any better than the children in the public school system. I feel like I can speak to this because I have all school systems covered and have witnessed all attitudes, (including my own). Would love to hear what others are thinking...

I think it is very difficult deciding what is the best school for our children. Right now I'm debating whether or not my son with ADHD is in the right school. I don't think it's just a matter of public, private or Catholic because every public school is different as are the private and Catholic schools. It depends on the needs of the child and whether or not that particular school can meet the needs of that child. The scary thing is if we switch schools, there's no guarantee that things will be any better. They all have their pros and cons...that is why the education can't stop in the classroom, it has to continue in the home. I believe that if the parents are involved in their children's education it will make a significant difference no matter what school they are in.
