Put your name on the list and you should stop receiving as many irritating phone calls from telephone solicitors!

I really believe it works! [Big Grin]

I just saw this topic and it made me think of something funny.

A Plain Dealer Columnist said that when he'd get irritating phone solicitors he'd pretend to speak in a foreign language. They'd keep repeating themselves and he'd keep speaking in the funny foreign language. He said they finally gave up and simply hung up.

I'm on the "do not call list" too. It has helped but I also have an unlisted phone number. I kept it that way from my days as an I.R.S. auditor.

The best way I ever saw anyone handle telephone solicitors was a friend who jumped in with great enthusiasm to try to sell the solicitor somethng. He would make up something weird and go on and on about it until the solicitor would finally hang up on him.

It was hilarious. Everyone around got a kick out of our end of the conversation also.

I always let them do the entire speel and then say "oops someones here but give me your home number and I'll call you tonight." Then when they say they can't I say "oh guess you don't want people calling you at home" and when they say well yes, I say, "now you know how I feel" and hang up...Saw that on Seinfeld and thought it was funny. Seems to work too....

I hate to tell you this, but even if you register with the no call gov listing it does not stop non profits from calling you...apparently they are exempt from this law.

I like chatty lady's seinfeld suggestion... [Big Grin]

I have tried the dnc. There are certain companies exempt plus if you have ever done business with anyone they may call you for up to 18 months. I've tried the selling something back to them some of them are so persistent it does'nt matter. I've also done the language it works until someone bilingual calls you then of course it's a hoot

Well something that always works is when you know its a telemarketing call simply lay the phone down and eventually they'll just go away...

I've done the silent treatment with them but the problem is, until you tell them to put your number on their do not call list, the calls continue.
