Steve and I couldn't wait to "fly the coop." As soon as our youngest finished college, we left the family home and moved to another town, 90 miles north, where we had owned a vacation home in the past.

And I mean we moved fast: Our son graduated in December, and by the end of the month, half of our "stuff" was moved. The rest followed in January. (Of course, we didn't get the family home sold for another 9 months, but that's another story...)

So I wasn't surprised to read that MANY Empty Nest Boomers are abandoning those nests in favor of something downsized and easier to manage.

I realize not all Boomers are doing this. Some of us stay, others now find the desire for a palatial home of their dreams.

What would make you choose to move? And where would you -- or did you -- go?
