Hi Chatty, If you'd be so kind, I'd love it if you could either send me a list of who they are, or else tell them that there IS an NABBW Facebook page. We'd love to stay in touch with these people... Our Facebook page, of course, is at NABBW Facebook page I am planning to contact Facebook to find out how to get control of the page, so the front page isn't so stale... Meanwhile, of course, anyone can post to the page, but your comment ends up on the "others" page...

I'm on Facebook too at Joan Handbury-Jones if anybody wants to friend me there. I've been spending time on Facebook to keep up with my daughters, who post lots of pictures and updates, and I have a page for my health website and my knitting website there. Saturday, I found out on Facebook that our 2 year old grand daughter had strep throat and pneumonia! They only live a mile away. Good grief!

I spend a lot of time on Facebook because I have my personal page and then I have the 'fan' page. My favorite things are the pictures. I rarely chat. I just checked and I had already 'liked' the NABBW page. Here are my pages if you want to check them out. http://www.facebook.com/donnashepherd (personal) http://www.facebook.com/donnajshepherd (fan) I'm afraid I got totally immersed in Facebook, too, and forgot to check in here on this forum for a while. I suppose we could chat and start threads on the Facebook page for NABBW, too, if we wanted. Anne, are the sole administrator for that page? I have a hard time keeping up with the changes Facebook makes. Just when I have it all figured out, they change it!

Yes, it's an easy fix. I see there are over a thousand members. That would be tough to start all over.

I've seen people move a site successfully, though. One is an interest site that I'm on, and the other was a guy I know whose account got hacked and someone pretending to be him friended all his friends. Now THAT was a mess!

I still won't be getting around to subscribing to FAcebook. I have enough already in terms of personal activities.
Besides my family and closest friends aren't into FB. So, no point.

Thanks Sandpiper, and anyone else who wants to contribute to this conversation. I'm giving Dotsie til the end of this month to figure out how to make me an admin of the current NABBW Facebook site. I've given her instructions on how to do it several times, and many have noted that it isn't difficult. If I don't become an admin on the current site by the end of the month, I will have to create a new FB site and then somehow invite all of the thousand-plus people who have friended that site to move to the new site. Any suggestions anyone has for a new name for the new site are certainly welcome.

I'm an administrator on our church page, and recently made a change. All I did was go to the top, click 'members,' then found the name, and with one click, made the change.
You can have more than one administrator if you like.

I guess I am just a boring person. I don't do Facebook nor do I Twitter. I'm really not interested in those things. I guess that is why I am out of the loop so much.

I really enjoy Facebook. Through it, I've reconnected with old friends from elementary school, junior high, and high school. I also keep up with out-of-town friends there too. If someone has something to announce, it's much easier to post on Facebook than to send individual emails to everyone.

I like Facebook too! The biggest problem we had with the old NABBW page was that there was NO admin. (I know it is possible to have more than one, but somehow Dotsie deleted herself as admin before I had the chance to be appointed one. Then there was no way to talk to anyone at FB, and no way for either of us - or anyone else -- to become the admin. Thus it eventually became clear that the only thing left to do was start a new NABBW Facebook page... Hope anyone here on the forum who has a FB presence will go "like" the new page. Then I can send out messages via FB, as well as on the forum. Remember, we're easy to find: facebook.com/NABBW

We had a similar problem with a memorial page that my niece set up after my brother died. It had lots of members and fairly regular postings. But when FB switched over to the Timeline format, my niece didn't move the page within the timeframe, and so all of the members got dropped and even my niece can't get into the page to make any changes. Nobody can post or join or anything. Very frustrating. FB only sent one message out to my niece with the instructions on how to move the page, but she didn't get around to doing it and missed the deadline and now the page is useless. If that's what happened with Dotsie, then she wouldn't have been able to access the page herself even.
Do you know if the old page still has members attached or if anyone can still post to it? If not, then that's what happened.

Jabber, the FB message notification system doesn't always work well. I've often missed (unintentionally) messages sent to me. If I have a lot of notifications, and just click on the message icon to see who sent them, it doesn't automatically take me to the messages, it just gives me a list of who sent them. So I often get busy and distracted and forget to go back to READ those messages...I feel badly when I do, but in my experience, most people understand because it happens to them too.
If you've only sent one message to a friend and they haven't responded, perhaps that's what's been happening. If you've sent several to one friend and haven't heard back, then that's a different scenario. If that happens to me (and it does), I just figure they either don't have anything to say, or are too busy and don't have time to respond. If it's serious, I'll send another one saying that I need an answer. If it's not serious, I just let it be...let "other" be "other".
Don't know if that helps. I do know that if someone sends me a message that puts me in an awkward situation, e.g., over an issue that I might have a different opinion about, and I don't know how to respond, I don't answer right away. I'll sit and think about how to answer.

Jabber, I'm sure Eagle Heart is onto something: One more permutation to her suggestion is that your friend may have a Facebook account, but just not use it all that often. So they're not receiving your message.
I can think if three people who are close to me who have FB accounts, but they just don't use them.
While I believe FB notifies me via my email address when I have a private message on Facebook, I suspect that if I weren't regularly checking my FB account, I'd probably see that notice, think to myself that next time I'm on Facebook I will check for it, but then never actually get around viewing my Facebook account in a timely way. (And then, likely, forgetting it is there.)
In my experience, I have people I know who never reply to my email messages, but if I text them, I'll get a response back right away. Some of us just get into habits with regard to how we prefer to receive messages, and when they don't arrive in that format, we never actually receive them.
Explaining my thought here takes me back to all the tedious communications theory I had to study in my communications classes in college.
According to communications theory: [A message that is sent out, but is not received = an incomplete transaction.]
In my communications theory classes we were taught that we cannot automatically anticipate that a message sent out is a message received. There are just too many reasons why sent messages fail to be received.
