Have to say that the Icelandic volcano and its spreading ash, earthquakes in China, Chile, Indonesia, Japan etc. in the last 12 months, just truly shows there's a great deal beyond mankind's control.

would be interesting to see how weather conditions are like for certain European countries over the next few days. I believe the huge volcanic explosion in the South Pacific, Krakatoa lowered the weather temperatures worldwide because the ash output was tremendous and obscured the sun's heat abit.

I know some folks in Hawaii are allergic to volcanic ash. Anyone here also?

Many areas in Europe are involved today..as the ash moved south.
There may be more Volcano activity so this may continue.

In the past deaths have occured fro the fall out.

I just heard on the news that this is the worst tragedy for air travel since 9/11. They expect at least 4 more days of no air travel.

How is the air quality in the UK and Europe?

North ..in Shetland there is ash..I dont notice anything here but everyone has concerns..most of all for friends who were away for Easter and cannot get home.

Our Phila. International Airport is loaded with stranded European travelers...I saw videos of them on the local news this morning, families trying to get home..poor little children and babies sprawled out on chairs and luggage sleeping...and they are afarid to leave the airport and get lodging in the city for fear that they won't make their flight bazck once they get the green light to fly again...it breaks my heart to watch them.

Important to remember that people are safe, though delayed at the airports. It's not as if people are marooned on a desert in Eithopia.

it's probably dang boring and tiring to be hanging around for more than 1 day in an airport with not much to do. It would be like being in a shopping mall for several days and no where to go.

At least there are plenty of washrooms, places to eat at an airport..if they choose to stay there vs. go elsewhere in city.

I've been stuck at a small aiport in the Canadian Arctic for 8 hrs. while a massive blizzard blew through. It was serious since no planes could land properly. So I amused myself with my book, watching people. There wasn't much else to do because the airport was tiny, hence no shops except for 1 to look at. I ended up chatting with an Inuit mother with her baby for a short while.

Since all UK flights have been grounded McCarren Airport here in Vegas has a glut of stranded passengers. A coule of the local motels are offering them rooms at a very reduced price so they can get off the benchs and floors at the airport. It is a real mess!!! I feel for those stranded individuals.

If anyone here in BWS has family stranded in Vegas give them my number and I can offer them a comfortable place to stay until they can fly home again.

I can't imagine having to spend that much time in an airport. A couple of hours layover is too much! I feel for those who are stuck.

Crops need seasons and farmers in Europe may have an impact this time if there is further fallout.

People returning to UK will likely have commitments perhaps work or family responsibilies and several days in any airport will be trying to say the least.Oil workers offshore are affected here.
Hotels will be costly and what has been said is that "This is an act of God" so no insurance will be paid out.

Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions, massive floods..one after another...I'm wondering if God is angry with our world...maybe it's time for more prayer, peace, and forgiveness....
