I am putting this here not to cover any of the great posts on the forum. Plus everyone knows who won the last contest, old news. And if we make and keep resolutiuons we will all be winners.

1) I plan to walk everyday starting on January 1st. outside, and if the weather is bad, I will go to the mall or Wal*Mart, and walk there!

2) I will lose four pounds (or better) a month, giving me at least another loss of around 50 pounds.

3) This will be the hardest one of all~~~~~I will give up all breads, pastas and sugars, eating only good carbs. Getting my diabetes under control.

Thats about it for my resolutions. I am paying more attention to my own needs the new year. I bought a notebook to jot down each and every thing, everyday I do to keep my resolve.

What about some of you?

I want to resolve to take things easy and really take things one day at a time. I want to simplify my life, and set aside more time for meditation and reflections. To keep an open mind to whatever happens and turn it into a positive!

Happy New Years!

Cheers,
Cathi

Mama,
I like the idea of living your passions. I'm with you and Dee.
Don't have any resolutions. I've already given up booze, cigarettes and men. What else is there? Love that "I'm widy!"
stuff.

On second thought, I've changed my mind. I resolve to stop repeating myself on the bws forum. I keep harping on the same ole heartache. And I'm determined to stop that!

Oh Jabber, please don't stop repeating yourself (grin)...who knows when that tidbit of wisdom you share (multiple times) will strike just the right chord with someone and maybe they missed it somewhere else!

Jabber, your comments are a joy to behold whether repeated or not. I agree with MamaRed. The idea is to stop allowing those thoughts to invade your brain and mentioning them will cease automatically.

I resolve to be more sociable. I've been a bit of a recluse lately because of feeling tired all the time. And it's winter so the SADD kicks in. I'm back on my supplements so I'll be better once they kick in again. I was bad and stopped taking them - and I know better!!

I think if you have given up booze, cigarettes and men, you definitely need to eat MORE chocolate. I like dark chocolate with nuts. I have given up cigarettes (20 years ago), but not booze (I love a gin and tonic and a glass of wine), and have sort of given up on men, but not entirely. My options are open.

I'm in agreement with all you gals! Including dark chocolate. Although I don't drink, smoke, nor date, I'll decrease my Mountain Dew intake in an effort to lose weight and sleep deeper and peacefully.

cyclinggal,
I'm with you! Love chocolate! Love walnuts and cashews, too!
Cheese is another weakness. But if I give up all of these,
it'll take the joy out of living. So I ain't gonna do it!

I love everything except bleu cheese and olives. Everythign else is game for me.

I've started an email diet with three friends so I'm hopeful I can lose a little weight.

Also registering to be involved with a mastermind group for professiinal reasons.

I love the declutter idea. I'm always working at decluttering. How is that possible? I guess I haven't mastered it yet.

Exactly why I'm NOT doing the things this year...I'm positively fabulous at finding things were I'm not perfect and so I decided to drop one of the reminders from my list (giggle).

Dotsie,
You don't do blue cheese and olives? Shucks. Those are two of my favs. So you're learning to be a superior intellect? Hey?
Don't get too smart. The rest of us won't be able to understand

It's sooooooo good to read your post! I wondered where in the world you had gone. Your posts make my day! I don't know who

My 2009 New Year Resolutions:

Eat what I want, and as much as I want…
Surf and chat in internet till my fingers fall off
Spend money like there is no tomorrow
Party to the wee hours of the morning
Read all the books I've always wanted to read

Considering I never keep my New Year resolutions;…maybe this is the way to do it. Hah!

Thats the way to do it Edelweiss, but heck these are resolutions even I would be happy to KEEP!!!

After today I think maybe spending more time on other things and less on the computer would be best for me...Still trying to decide.

Ed3,
I like your list. If I made a list of all the things wrong with
me, it'd take at least a decade to resolve 'em.

Chatty,
I should spend less time posting and more time writing. But I've

EW...you've got it going on, girl. You know, I find it amusing to see online how the "resolution" thing rears it's ugly head each Jan 1, then fades into oblivion until the next Jan 1...nobody seems to revisit it in between....thank God. LOL!

I think I want to adopt something that my mother has practiced all her life....do ONE good deed every single day for someone. At the end of the day, write it down. You think you will remember it, but you won't. She says it just helps you to do another one the next day when you see it in writing. How cool is that? She's such a sweetheart!

It seems easier to try to keep the inner changes rather than the outer changes...

That was, of course until I read Edelweiss resolutions. See I have always stuck to a resolution and I never knew I did that! How cool is that?

Cheers,

I am resolving to rid myself of 'negative thinking'!!! I talk about the glass as half full - but, worry about EVERYTHING....

I am taking a class at a Unity church entitled "Believe in Yourself, Trust in God" One of the first assignments is to smack the back of your hand each time you catch yourself with negative thoughts or words. Right now, my left hand is a just shy of beet red!! But, I'm beginning to see how often I let my first instincts go to the 'dark side.'

Just one resolution for me - but it covers a LOT of territory.

All of your resolutions are great. I try to be the best I can be every day. Some days are better than others; and it's so easy to get bogged down with day-to-day garbage. But I try to keep the attitude that every day is a new beginning to do better. Some days it's very hard to keep a positive attitude.

I used to make resolutions and not keep them and I realized that I was setting myself up to fail. Now I try to be a better person every day. It doesn't always work but I keep trying. Sometimes I'm successful, which makes me feel good so I can be better tomorrow.

It finally got cool in Florida. Sweatpants and the heater on cool and I'm more productive in this weather. I can't live up north because it hurts my bones.

I haven't exercised, only dieted, and have lost a few pounds. I don't want to be exact becasue they can always come back in a few days, but I'm working hard, so I don't think that will happen.

silvergirl, welcome. Tell us about your screen name. Do you make jewelry?I like your first post. I believe we have more similarities than differences. I've read hundreds of stories written by boomer women form all over the world. They've been submitted for the Our Voices section of our site.

I'm always amazed by the similarities of women across the world. One that comes to mind was a story written by a gal in Australia who got pregnant at midlife, had just gotten her dream job, and didn't know what to do. She felt guilty becausse she had stayed home with her two boys who were in their teens when she became pregnant with her daughter.

Reading these forums is a testament to all we have in common.

common than in contrast. World over, people are people: We all face similar issues in life, whether they be good or bad. Welcome. Glad you joined in!
