I have a few and wear them. DH calls me "Aunt Tillie"...but I don't care. They are comfy!

Mom wore them all the time.....Dad used to get them for her for M'day etc.

Nowadays if you walk into Walmart/Target and ask where the "shifts" are, they stare at you!

Anyone wear them....and/or remember them??

My mother had one sewing pattern for these shifts, and sewed 6 different dresses for me; each one a different colour. Some with a bow on each shoulder. They were really lovely, and no one noticed they were all the same dress.

Never had a shift, but I love, love, love my
sleep tees!
In every color, design, the more offbeat the tee, the better. LOL!!

Most all the catalogs I get call them shifts/muumuu's/nightshirts/patio dress's or cover-ups, whatever. I have six or seven in a cool sleeveless cotton, and then eight in bright colors made from tee shirt material. They are perfect to work around my office in, run to do errands with flip flops... In this heat they are a blessing. Great to throw on over a swimsuit as well...

muu muu and shift are different styles to me.

A muu muu is a housedress - loose, a yoke with a body gathered off the yoke. A shift is more form fitting - one piece from shoulder to hem.
I've made both... wore shifts in my teens and into twenties. Have a muu muu now, but I don't wear it, too much fabric for me... BUT, it is cool, as related to heat/cold, open to circulation.
