What do you say we help the widows among us get through the holidays?

What ideas do we have for them that will make the holidays lighter?

Find a new tradition. Ask someone if you can spend the holiday with them. Bake something new.

And yet, also acknowledge that you will need time to grieve. Plan for it and give yourself the gift of time to cry, write, journal, walk, or whatever gives you peace.

How Dotsie? Unless we're close enough to interact with these ladies, what can we do?

If we knew their address's we might send cards, flowers even just something bright and cheerful. But we do not have the information we need to do that. So I am at a loss!

Giving always brings joy.
Perhaps they might like to start a new tradition as Casey suggested... maybe volunteer to help the homeless with meals on Christmas day??? Or help a charity distribute toys to children maybe ???

Thanksgiving was a hoot, but once dinner was over around 5:30 PM, and all the chit chat, we all went in different directions. I hightailed it over to the Animal shelter and there were already three other people there and we had a riot feeding the dogs and cats turkey treats and everyone was held and paid attention to. I got home from there around 11:00 PM. I am a pushover for a sad little face, and can't leave until all the babies are satisfied and falling asleep. It was a grand day all around...

Chatty,
You warm my heart! I wish we lived closer. It brings joy to my heart, just to know there are people like you in this ole world.
Blessings & prayers...

I love the idea of giving back on the holidays. Chatty, sounds like the perfect way for you to end your day.

I agree with Chatty. If we aren't physically close to those who live alone over the holidays, it's hard. I think the only thing you can do is look around in your own neighbourhood, and reach out and be there for someone. If my husband complies, I would love to invite a lady over Christmas Eve, who lives in my mother's complex and has no family. My husband has to want to do this too, otherwise it won’t be a nice Christmas for any of us.
Do any of you invite people you hardly know over for Christmas?
