Not sure this is the best forum for this, but here goes:

Ladies, I have a confession to make.

I just got back from the beach for a week and I never told you I was leaving and I feel so bad about it. I got online a few times while I was there so I could stay in touch and no one would really know I was out of town.

Jawjaw told us she was leaving and I wanted to tell you I was going, but here's the reason...and don't laugh at me! [Roll Eyes]

When I was a kid and we were going away, my mom told us we shouldn't broadcast it to the neighborhood because you never knew if someone was going to break in while we were away. I guess this had been crammed into my head because I don't broadcast my trips. I mean my family and local friends know, but that's about it.

You know, a vacant house and all those bad guys in the world just waiting to break in!

Anyway, I just knew that if I BROADCASTED it in the forum, someone would surely track me down and just be dying to get in my house while I was gone.

Get the picture?

I'm so sorry! Hope you understand... [Wink]

Dotsie, Dotsie....we all trust one another with our innermost secrets here. Do you actually think we are waiting to rob you when you are gone, even if we knew your address, which I, for one don't? LOL. I understand what you are saying though. That's why I enjoy living here in Kansas, in the sticks, where we don't even have to lock our houses and our cars, unless we go to a bigger city shopping. In fact, we don't even have a lock on our doors and don't own a house key. We haven't locked our house in over 20 years. And have never had anything stolen, either. And I seriously doubt that any of you will be coming to Clifton to rob me either.

Your part of the county sounds so inviting to me.

After living in this town where we lock our car doors in our own driveways, I can't quite imagine not having a key to the house.

I have never heard of that, but wish I had!

[Big Grin] Dotsie/Countrygirl,
Same here in Bama. My Mother teases me all the time because my son and I forget to lock our doors at night. And we live within 3 miles of a Prison. I told Mom we just make sure we have a full tank of gas in the car and leave the keys in the seat. That way they can make a clean get-a-way and don't have to wake us up. After all, a girl needs her beauty rest...well...not me, the Queen, of course...I was referring to other girls in the neighborhood.

Hi,
Wish it were still that way here in this tiny town that we live in. Last summer three of our neighbors had items stolen right out of their glove compartments. Luckily they found the kids.
Having grown up in a larger town we always locked the doors so weren't hit. Our neighbors are getting used to this now too but its hard on them because they've been able to leave everything unlocked.
We couldn't believe it when we wanted to look at the house to buy and the former owners told us
"go ahead its unlocked" Of course we knew them so
it helped.
Maggie
