Chatty,
Glad the AP reports those Las Vegas shootings in the New York-New York casino were non-life threatening. There's too much of that sort of thing happening nowadays.

Prayers,
bonnie rose

Chat,
Have you lived in Las Vegas all your life? My sister lives in Tucson. Hubby and I visited her in '98 and the temp was 90 degrees at 7:00 p.m. I don't know how you gals take the heat. It sounds mighty hot there, right now!
Ciao,
bonnierose

Bonnie, I moved to Vegas in 1970 from Chicago, for two years, then moved back to Chicago to work for a major newspaper. I moved back to Vegas again in 1979. Then in 1980 I went to Washington, D.C. to work as Manager/Editor for The Washington Times newspaper.I fulfilled a three year cntract. But decided not to renew again as my first grandchild was about to be born back in Vegas, so back to Vegas I came. Been here steady since May of 1990.

Oh yeah, its HOT alright. Already 114* and its not even noon yet. I don't mind the heat because I do all my shopping etc, at night when its much cooler. What I have always missed is the 'rain' ...God forgot about water for some of the western states and its a real bummer...

A few years ago we were in Vegas in August. We camped in a trailer park and our airconditioner didn't work! I didn't mind the heat at all because it's a dry heat and Hubby and my sons didn't suffer either.

You could ring me out from the The muggy heat in Boston and the Bay areas.

Chatty,
Thanks. It was fun to read about all your moving around.
It's hot here today. Right now it's 9:30 a.m. and already 84 degrees. For the Buffalo, Lake Erie, area, that's hot.
Temps are supposed to hit lower 90s about noontime. We only have airconditioning in the bedroom hubby and I share. My computer is in a guest room. Minutes ago, my eyeglasses were steaming up to the point that I could not see. Hubby and I went to Vegas in September of '98, after visiting my sister in Tucson, Arizona. I found my birth family, 10 siblings, in the mid 90s. So I wanted to meet the baby of the family. At Vegas, we camped in the lot of Circus, Circus on The Strip; and, it was NOT uncomfortably warm, then.
Hannelore, what's the climate like where you are in Germany?

Prayers and blessings,
bonnie rose

We have had a record-breaking hot summer, but lately it's been cool and rainy. Usually when it starts to rain in Germany it doesn't stop. Oh well, it gives us all a chance to get some work done.

Hannelore,

We've been to Boston in August and we had to start wiping ourselves with wet baby wipes and pouring water on our heads. We had no idea that it would be so hot that far north of our home in Maryland.

Today, it's 100 here. I just came home from the orthopeadic Dr. and i can tell you that there were plenty of parking places around the medical building. Lots of canceled appts., too said his nurse.

Personally, I don't mind, because I'm inside in the air conditioning. But, I feel sorry for all of the tourists in DC. I've been down there many a time with out of town visitors. It's killer heat when it's 90 and above. On more than one occasion, guests and I thought seriously of accidently tripping and falling into the reflecting pool.

I did go out and put some beach umbrellas around our pond. We don't want our pet Koi to slow cook!

Other than those two trips, I'm in and reading Eat, Pray Love.

Tonight, I need to go to the store for some dark chocolate. For medicinal purposes, of course!

Stay cool everyone,

Emily in Maryland
