My dad is such a blessing! He is extremely independent and very helpful! I just returned from a 6 day family vacation and I am happy to share that he and a friend took care of our dog while we were away. I know it may not sound like much but twice a day Dad came to our home, got the mail, newspapers, fed the dog, let her out, played with her, etc. Whenever I spoke with him from my trip, he was upbeat and happy to fill me in on the latest dog escapade. Today I find myself very thankful for a man who can never do enough to help his neighbor/family. At a time in my life when many of my friends are caring for their parents...I am happy to say that my dad still helps care for us. I do not share this to be boastful, (heaven knows I spent several months caring for my mom who lost her battle to cancer), I only share this to show my appreciation for an awesome man.

He is a blessing. It's fabulous to have such great attitude about life and be so upbeat and positive. I have a similar experience with my parents who are 81 and 76. They spend their days taking old and new friends to doctor's appointments, visiting senior citizen homes and delivering meals. When they come here for a "vacation" Mom takes over the laundry and they both try to get me organized. No matter how much I clean before she gets here she can find dirt. Anyone ever vacuumed out their dryer vents??? They are a blessing!
