As many of you know, I am very familiar with this disease. Ross is a Type I and takes several shots a day and our daughter is a Type II and controls it with diet and exercise.

I don't think she'll mind me posting this because it's a new approach that may help others.

Her numbers have been very high and we are trying to keep her from having to take medication. It was recommended that she see a women who helps teens eat healthy.

Here's the advice from this woman which my daughter was most grateful to hear:

Forget about your disease for now!

All I want you to do is eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and one snack every day.

Her numbers will certainly be lower because she's been snacking (don't we all?) and eating three meals.

Obviously, her numbers will be lower because she will be eating healthier so why bother testing. Anything will be an improvement.

My daughter was thrilled with this approach. She's done nothing but think about her disease since the diagnosis (well, not really, but you know what I mean).

She is keeping a food journal to share with the woman next week when she checks in.

I wanted to share in case this can help others.

The advice is good but I would not allow her not to test. I test each morning and at night before bed and that works for me. As you know Diabetes can be such a sneaky disease.
