What color do you favor when you dress?

What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/09/09 06:49 PM

What color you are drawn to when you dress yourself says a lot about who you are.

For example: Like a lot of Italains and French in my feild, I wear a lot of black. Black is a colour that protects you, wraps around you and keeps people out. It keeps your energy for yourself and does not invite others to come in.

Sometimes by changing the colours we wear, we say somethign else to the public and we affect ourselves in another way...

To find out what each color can do to others who see you and for you inside, just say what colour you favor. Or, just tell us what colour you enjoy wearing most to give us an idea who you are! We can know each other much better by describing what colours we care comfortable wearing. What colour is your favorite dress, top?

What colours do you favor?

Dancer, catching up on fashion...

I wear lots of black, brown and green this time of year.

I wear mostly black for dress up.

I wear all shades of pink and turquoise in spring and summer.

Boy, do I send a mixed message, or what?

Can't wait to hear what you have to say.

Dotsie,

The putting on of colours when it comes to characters is a science with people who do it. One will find that if they put a red top on and try to lift something it will be easier than if one is wearing pink and tries the same thing. Then again, if one is wearing red, it will put others at a distance and cause them to judge you...

What you wear tells costume designers that you are an open and loving person who is perfectly comfortable around women and with your femininity. You enjoy holidays and bring happiness with you. You are confident helping others and do so often. You are confident as a woman and feel completely secure in day time, tea time, or family time activities. Pink is a choice for people who don't mind being open to others and who don't mind dropping their entire gaurd around others. If one puts pink on they will find their strength is a bit less strong but their hearts are open.

You are a bit uncomfortable at evening or formal events. You probably have a bit of stage fright when public speaking. You feel that fitting in is important at parties. You like to stand back and let people come to you at formal parties and are very good at getting your space at them when you need to.

You seek to grow, and to help others grow with your choice of green in each season. The outdoors is comfortable to you and you should have a country home.

Dancer, fun, right?

My very favourite colour to wear is orange...I love all shades of orange, but my favourite shade would be paprika. When I wear orange I feel alive and energetic and confident.

My summer wardrobe is built around orange. I wear the paprika and darker orange shades in the winter, usually with browns and sage green. I'm not a huge fan of green, but have somehow ended up with a lot of the sage green (it's the only shade of green I'll wear) in my wardrobe, probably because it mixes well with the orange and browns. I also like wearing brown, chocolate brown.

I like most colors, but when I look in my closet I don't have any green or purple. I like fresh bright colors. And I don't care for patterns, unless they blend with each other. At work, I like wearing a blazer, ( my favourite one is sky blue with a black collar). With it, I wear a black skirt and black nylons.

In summer, I love turquis. It's my favourite color.

Dotsie, did Dancer's analogy hit home? Pretty intersting stuff.

Okay, what is my favorite color to wear, or what is my closet full of, that is my real question.

I love to wear orange and red, but I don't have much of it in my closet. Isn't that strange.

My closet is full of black, white and brown. I need a make over! Really.

I have been thinking about simplifying my wardrobe. I have so much stuff, and I am not having fun getting dressed anymore. And that is not okay, by me.

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/11/09 02:16 PM

Anno, I got to that point several years ago, of looking in my closet and seeing mostly blacks, greys and khaki greens. Not bad colours, but dreary if that's all you see all the time. Over the years I've been making a point of shopping the end-of-season sales for different colours...sometimes I can get away with wearing them right away, but even if I have to be patient and wait until the next season, it's still worth it. Now I look in my closet and see a nice mixture of oranges, paprikas, pinks, turquoise and peach colours - they all go well with - and spice up - the old not-so-dreary-anymore colours. Even if you start with one red t-shirt/blouse, it's probably enough to give you that tiny shiver of anticipation...and always remember, YOU'RE WORTH IT!

I hope dancer will jump in and share your color personalities with you too.

She is pretty much right on. I never knew this about the colors pink and green, but it seems to work for me.

You are absolutely right about black tie affairs. We go to one a year and it's outdoors at the zoo so I'm totally cool with it.

I do have some stage fright, but it really depends what I'm doing on stage, and the setting. I've done quite a few things in front of crowds, but I must be comfortable with the crowd. Church settings work, and settings with all women also work, but that's about it - comfortably.

I look forward to hearing about the other gals and their colors. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/11/09 06:27 PM

I love bright colors. Since I spent 20 years of my life wearing white, I won't go near it now and besides, it makes me look dead! Black does the same thing, although I do have a favorite black sweater I wear occasionally. I like the 'electric' colors in pink, blue, green, red. I can't wear any shade of orange or coral but can wear some peachy shades. My favorite color is red - the clear blue-red, not the orangy one. I will wear prints but only in skirts or pants, never in tops. I just don't like the way they look next to my face. What's in my closet? Mostly dark pants - black, navy, but some tan. My shirts and sweaters are all the colors of the rainbow (except for white and orange!) I like pairing colors in unconventional ways, such as grey with pink or purple with green. It all depends on the shades.

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/11/09 07:23 PM

Well, let's see. Eagle Heart:
Your choice of orange, and the orange family makes you open to new ideas and new things. It shows a person who is not afraid of the unknown and infact, embraces it. Your colors draw people to you and they are looking for leadership because your colors show them that you can lead.
Your liking of brown only shows that you know what to wear with your paprika and orange, etc... Even green shows us that you are a smart dresser. You ar pulled together. You stand out a bit in a crowd and are fine doing that. You are an adventurer at heart, but your main adventure is meeting new people! Hooray for you!

Edelweiss:
You show a confident dresser who is not afraid to be open to people. Your dislike of patterns means you have a strong personality and dislike your clothes wearing you. You wear solids because you want your personality to lead. It does lead. Your use of a blazer says that you still have a bit of a need to fit in and that it is probably good in whatever you do. Since you use color under your blazer, you are still welcoming people and showing a pleasing personality that probably gets along with most people. The use of black stockings tells us that you are sexual but not to the point of it being your whole world. You are in touch with your sexuality and show the world a WOMAN, not a person, if you know what I mean.
You are an equal opportunity person with very little prejudice. You are open to most and you also hold the fort down, people count on you to do that and you do it well and in style.

Anno, with the information you have given me, you sound like you went through a period where you needed to fit in and not draw attention to yourself. You needed to show that you were all together but really, you were in a period of change. You hunkered down in the dard colors to keep that energy under control and for yourself, you needed it. If you are done with the dark colors, you have passed through that stage and are ready to let people in more. If you truly are ready to give up the blacks and browns, you will make a REAL statement to those who know you and change your life. More people will approach you when you change to color and you will leave yourself open to it.
I suggest you start small. Put color with your black or brown. Take Eagle Hearts clue and try an orange or a paprika with your brown pants, even black. I would no try electric colors yet. Remember that pink REALLY weakens your boundries so if you are not ready to open up all the way, avoid it until you feel stronger. If needed, alternate color with your browns and blacks until you feel comfortable wearing all colors with your mood.
It's okay to stay in brown or black if you need your energy and do so much for others that you need to keep some for yourself!

Yonuh!! fine to see you!
You show a powerful knowledge of who you are. You dress like a woman who has done a whole lot of soul searching and is not afraid to stay one with her soul. You are not only open, you are, how can I say it? You are flying a bit above some with your self knowledge.
You are a leader and have been for some time. You are unafraid because of your self knowledge and have some training or education in the mystic arts, or something like it. It could be Indian ways, or some other high area of self knowledge. You are "together," and can help many others if you choose. If you do work, you should be working where you can help many people, you will be very successful. If you are not working, or are an artist, ( I would not be surprised if you were an artist, in fact you are, but maybe not for a living, maybe yes..) Anyway, if you are not working, your calling is art, or in the administration of some help to some peoples.
You are admired by many.
Tell me, have you worn purple with orange? This would tell me more...
,
Dancer, hope this helped some or entertained others. Ask questions if you like about change...

Most of my slacks and skirts are black, probably to camoflague the big bottom, LOL! But I love and have tons of shades of lavender and teal blues. I also like a crisp white outfit for summer time...

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/12/09 01:03 AM

I wear mostly black and dark blue slacks, because they are slimming...

for tops though, my favorite colors are red (and red looks really good on me) and hot pink and pink - I have a lot of these color tops in my wardrobe - but honestly I love all colors of the rainbow...

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/13/09 09:08 AM

My color mantra is "black, white, and anything bright." With olive skin, I look best in red derivatives and clear colors, although I love animal prints since forever.

Favorites: orange, turquoise, black, white, red, french vanilla, purple, fuchsia, hot pink, sunny yellow, coral.

Kiss-of-death colors are royal, denim, navy, mustard, beige, sage, anything muddy or gray.

I wear arty or bold prints but nothing cute.

I know what this says about my personality -- SPLAT!! -- but if I've missed anything in that word, you're free to add. smile

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/13/09 12:08 PM

It's funny how when I think about it, some of my choices have changed.

I prefer rich color, like teal blues, greens including yellow green (chartreuse -- I love that one), reds-purples-bright pinks, gold, brown and black. I don't think I look good in yellow, gray, mauve, white, many blues, or pale colors in general. Some prints work okay, especially on a dark background.

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/13/09 06:28 PM

Chatty, m'lady, you dres like you have been in entertainment. You know that black is the best way for your personality to come forth without complication, yet protect you so you are following your life's work.

Jackie, you might want to know that hot pink is Spring's color of choice. You will find it in many hues this season. This is because of the nations willingness to open up to a new president and hope for the best. It is also saying that India, which loves pink and red, is growing in the world economy, in education and in every way. Your choice of red shows confidence and a need to be heard in what you do. You are a bit fearless and that is a good thing. We only have to fear fear itself. You love a challange and will not back down for one. Watch what days you wear red and you will see that you wear it when you are feeling very sure of who you are. You are a brave woman.

Red is India's Black. It is worn as much as black in America in India. But red here is a statement colour. This should change, I feel.

Meredith, you are a colorful personality with artistic tendenceis, as we already know. You are not a mess, you are a controlled mess and that is an art. You put yourself together for your own sake and not for others. The jeans you wear are to put you into the slot you must be in to make your living but your other colors and accessories are to make you Meredith with a capitol M. You bore easily and will find stimulas if you feel the slightest bit like you are unchallanged or unentertained. You are entertaining as youself as well. You are fun to talk to and will have many friends of many ages, but only a few really close ones. Bravery is also your trait with your love of brights, and you would die in the drap colours so you mean business when you do business. You will insist on your friends being brave and taking challanges and will accompany them along the way if they do. You have faced the evil and survived so you are fearless for that reason as well. Some may find your way of dressing fickle and without an ability to commit, but they would be wrong for you can commit to controlled chaos, what you need to be happy in the world.

DJ, you have been in the higher areas of great art and show that with your fashion choices. You like luxury and will show luxury no matter how much you spend on your clothes. You care how they feel, what the fabric is and how they sit on your body. You dress as an art rather than a duty. Jewel tones show an appreciation of fine arts and they are a rather different choice than many women. You are washed out in pastels showing a powerful personality and some skin tone or tan to your skin. You mix colors well and would do with some mustard in your wardrobe to really kick your artistic way of dressing into high gear. Try using scarves in winter to add another jewel colour to an outfit. Make the scarves a bit of an investment so you only need a few and so they work to upgrade each thing you wear.
Thick fabrics will suit you in winter and you will shine in them. You might try some forest green pants with mustard sweater and a deep purple scarf of some nice material. You would look best in non patterned fabrics to allow the artist in you to come forward with no distractions.

Dancer, things to try.

When I'm out of my scrubs, which, by the way, are quite stylish! There are millions of colorful and nice scrubs now.....I love pink, especially the dark pinks. Everyone has always said how much they're my colors. It's funny though that my hubby has remarked how nice deep greens look on me. I had never thought about it and do not have a lot of greens at all. I should have my colors done again, it's been years!

Re: What color do you favor when you dress? - 01/14/09 07:28 PM

Dotsie,
Not a character is placed on television or in movies where their colors are not worked out in advance to "say," what they want the character to convey. Because I have been outfitted SO many times, as can be seen on my site, I learned quite a lot about dressing people and types. The "colors," that are done by some people are just a simple base to go by. In truth, black can be worn by a blonde, etc... The actors astrological charts are done and the name of their charcters "numbers," are done as well to make sure the "fit," the show and the character that is being played. Also, their personal religious feelings are asked so they may derive from that how the actor will play a role. It's all a science and it works, I see through it in everything I watch now.

It is fun, and there are suggestions I can make to help people say what they want in clothing. it's just something I picked up on the job...

Anne: You dress very safe and it's possible that your job or your lifesytle require it! You dress very American and that is also a good thing at this time in our countries history. The addition of silver though says a lot about you. Silver says that you are not "just one of many, or one of the crowd." If you have little money for clothing, I suggest that when you can afford to buy a piece, buy a "piece," something that changes your wardrobe, can be worn with everything including jeans and that "says," something about who you are. Spend the money you can, do not scrimp when you finally can buy a piece because every piece you do wear makes a difference with a small wardrobe. Allow yourself to explore a store no matter what amount you have to spend and look for a LONG time until you come to that piece that is just PERFECT for you and that you cannot live without. It's not too hard to dress on a tight budget if you take care in what you buy. Buy to build for the future, for who you want to be and where you want to be. If you have little money for clothing, try resale shops for accent pieces, jewerly, scarves, light and heavy, and such things that change your "look," without breaking the bank. IF you buy resale, the same rules apply: do not buy it unless it says, looks and yells "you!" If you need help to locate a store, ask friends you see wearing something that interests you where they got it.

( It is normally no ok to ask a person where they got their clothing for they may be embarrassed to say. However, if that person is your friend, that rule may be broken, use disgression!)

Lady Jane, I work now, in an E.R. so I know that scrubs can, indeed, be creative. Your color choices say exact things about you. You are for LIFE. You are a happy person but you are STRONG about your open heart. You wear a deep, blue pink so your heart is open but it is also stronger than many. You have been through some emotionally trying times and emerged fully recovered and wiser. You have much you may teach to others in your field! You show, again, that you care about life, with the green scrubs and your avoidance of pastels say that you are in control, which you must be in your position. You may try a purple, a deep, jewel purple and see how you feel in it! You are creative, and probably have a creative hobby or an artistic one, if you look or if you do. You are also unique at work, people know you, they have been allowed a glimpse into your inside workings and you feel that you are strong enough to show that. Do you wear patterned scrubs? If you do, that would change some of the reading of your clothes...

Celtic, you are quite creative, enlightened regarding your own emotions and have a unique, by comparison to others, belief system. You are not afraid and a brave person. You consider yourself a person before you are a woman. You take the high road as much as possible and probably have affirmations or rituals to make sure that you do. You stive in life to impove it by growing as a person and by trying to help others grow. If you wear orange and purple together you are open to all cultures and find them interesting. You need for fabrics that are natural or comfortable say that you are sensitive, very sensitive in your personal life. It also says "artist," again. To feel the fabric on your body says either that you have pain inside or outside that you are trying to fix. You also have good taste and are considered a good judge of art. You probably live in a hodge podge of art and things that have special meaning to you and will display them no matter what otehrs think. You live your life by your rules and yes, you can tell you have a young child around you.

Dancer, hope that helps. If you'd like to change something, just ask! Pardon my typo's and other problems with writing. I just get on a role as to what I've learned and start to type!

So interesting, dancer! Yes, I wear patterned scrubs....pink ribbons, swirls in black and white, pink flowers with black, etc. My occupation is in hospice but I do wear bright....in fact, I wear a seventies-ish bright flowers....blue, brown with brown scrub pants and people get a chuckle!

thanks for the analises dancer, i enjoyed it as scarie as it was too.

i didn't know they researched stare sighnes and stuff for movies but it seems fitting that they do making the caricter more belivable as a whole. Then direessing them be big big bisness and more important.

so purpile and orange at my wedding would have been a good thing, it was a nice outfit anyway.
what i actulie did weer was nice too.

we had total freedom of what to weer, nice having no rules to follow bit strange that their was no culture or president set for the cerimonie. Personal it was but having tradisonal guidlines would been great to go along with or to chose to break.

id put dowen a link to a frends web page but current circumstanse makes it a bit trickie to do that and becouse its trickie i just stay away from it.

so thanks for your attension, time and effort smile
