2007 Golden Acorn Contest

I'm a finalist in the Romantic Suspense category of the 2007 Golden Acorn Excellence in Writing Award for the Charter Oak Romance Writers RWA Chapter. I have a few days to update my entry with help from the judges' comments and then have to send it in. It will be sent to Patience Smith of Silhouette for final judging.

This is the first time I've "finaled" in an RWA contest.

I've been bouncing off the walls with excitement.

I've spent all day today working on my entry. I want it to be as perfect as possible.

Wish me luck, winners are announced mid June.

You're not going to believe this, but I won!! Yippee!! I took first place in the Romantic Suspense category.

Now, Patience Smith with Harlequin, wants me to send her the full manuscript so she can read it.

I'm working on it this weekend to make sure it's perfect before I send it to her early next week.

I'm bursting!

Oh my gosh Vicki. That's fantastic. Wow, someone at Harlequin? Please keep us posted. Maybe we'll be able to say, "We knew her when." I'm saying a little prayer that you meet with continued success. When you are famous, all your writers will come here to see what the famous author eats every day!

Thanks, everyone. I'm excited.. but a little cautious. My book isn't exactly Harlequin material. So don't know what they'll think.

Maybe they're looking for something new. Maybe they want to start a new series around your book... maybe.... keep your mind open, this is a good thing!

I've already been using "award winning" ... I won two awards before with two different stories. I kinda like this winning stuff. Maybe I'll enter more contests. :-)
