external or internal hard drives?

anyone got an oppinion on weather i should incress memorie size via an external hard drive or internal hard drive being installed?

i heared external hard drives hold the information fine but it takes ages to get it from the storage place while your working. Is that ture?

Any thoughts on pros and cons of thse two methods?

celtic, hopefully someone else will respond. The only thing I use my external hard drive for is to back up my pc, and it does take time. You might want to consider the cost of each and go with the least expensive choice because I think both ways work well.

i found out if i changed internazl hard drive then processor power supplie, maybee motherboard would have to be changed. Its certinlie at lest 1/3 cheeper doing external hard drive and i gess that have to do for me for now, my ports are also the old 1.0 usb type so it be slower than usule...but more important things to deal with first..
then my stuff lol.
