What a surprise!!! - 06/17/05 05:22 AM

Earlier today there was a knock at my door and there stood two friends telling me to hurry and get some clothes on and lets go, wouldn't tell me where but they were grinning like Cheshire cats. In my girlfriends mini-van were three of the shut in ladies from the nursing home we volunteer at and something covered with a blanket. It was windy here this morning and cool. We drove only a few blocks to the beautiful park near my home and low and behold, after helping the older ladies from the Van my friends went to the back and removed from beneath the blanket 3 kites, remember kites ladies? We took turns running back and forth getting the kites to fly. The nursing home ladies were laughing so hard as we were bumping into one another, falling down and still the kites flew up, up and up! After we tired we took the ladies to breakfast and then me home and they were gone as fast as they appeared. How wonderful a time it was for us all just watching those beautiful colored kites flying so high.... I remember flying kites with my dad and brother. My dad helped us make [Wink] [Big Grin] our own kite, it was quite a project...

Chatty,
Wish I could have been there. I do remember flying kites still love to do that . What a wonderful time for those elderly ladies and know it made there day to be young again. We would tie white rags to the end of the kit to make a tail.

Nice memories thanks for sharing

Oh to be a kid agin. Chatty, your story is a reminder that we don't have to be kids to do "kid stuff". What a spirit lifter!

What else do you do when you visit the ladies at the home?
