Killer houseplants - 03/20/09 11:06 PM

A lovely house cat died earlier this week from eating pieces off a SAGO PALM plant which many keep in their homes. They are easy to grow, lush, beautiful and unfortunately DEADLY to you pets. If you have one please be informed and careful, they are especially attractive to cats.

Here's a list. I knew some of them.

I didn't see poinsettias on that list, but they are also poisonous.

Philodendron is on the list? Ut-Oh. Need to make some changes at my house. Thanks.

I was told morning glory seeds were bad for dogs. A friend saw mine chewing on the vines & told me. I also had an email warning about potpourri - a person claimed her dogs got hold of a basket of it and died from one of the ingredients. I wondered if that was an "urban legend" though.

There are many kinds of dried plants in Potpurri, it does not surprise me at all some of it could be poisonious.
