Were you a "greaser" or a "collegiate?" - 11/11/05 10:44 PM

Back in the 60's greaser girls were designated as the ones who "ratted" their hair. Collegiates wore their hair straight, with no hairspray. So, I was a greaser in 7th and 8th grade and a collegiate all four years of high school. Greaser guys wore their hair slicked back, leather jackets and pointy-toed shoes. Collegiate guys had similar hairstyles without the "brylcream" look. They usually wore argyle pattern v-neck sweaters and loafers. The "greaser" guys were usually the best looking boys at school.

I was a collegiate, I guess, Although we did tease our hair and spray it. Ooh, the painful memories of sleeping on those jumbo hair rollers. LOL

Oh gosh, I fogot those awful jumbo rollers. I wore my hair in a flip in 7th and 8th grade. It was work getting it to look like that because my hair was long and thick. Now I can get a flip easily without even using rollers. Ah, the ease of blow dryers and a good styling brush!
