Disco dancing - 09/30/08 03:14 PM

I saw a card that had people doing the BUMP with a silver ball hanging over thier heads and boy did it take me back.

Remember disco dancing?

Yes and I'm quite happy it's a dead fad LOL. I can't say I enjoyed the music of that period all that much but I did have some fun times at a disco, including falling off my shoes and having a nasty fall. Never made sense to me how anyone could dance in those big, high, platform shoes LOL.

Never wore those ugly big shoes but I was a disco dancing fool. Loved the music...so upbeat.

Have you seen the platform shoes that are back? Boy do they bring back memories. I had a hideous pair. The soles were layers of colors with a sandal strap top. I thought they were the greatest. Don't now how I walked in them.

I have a friend who is very mod. She has this precious pair of platform shows that are red with white polka dots and a bow. Dang, how does she still do it?

My daughter has a few pairs and she always sets out to wear them, then switches to a flip flop. What a hoot.

I'd love to hear about soem of Dianne's platform shoes.

I tried them for a very short period of time because I wanted to be "stylish." Well stylish it isn't when you're all dressed up in your summer best dress and you fall on those things and all anyone can see are your panties LOL. I do not see how anyone can wear those either. Couple of my daughters have shoe addictions lol and have some but they're young and they DO look cute. Maybe I'm just challenged in that department.

The pair I had were sandals too...white with red bows. I get vertigo just thinking about them now, worn maybe twice and put in the Goodwill box. I don't know what hurt more...my head when I fell or my dignity.

I know you will think this is strange, but I find platform shoes easier to walk in than high heeled pumps, you know 3 inch or higher - I can't handle any pump heel higher than 2 inches...

I loved disco! Many great memories of that time period! I have tons of disco on my ipod and listen to it as I walk. I usually can't resist a mild jog to "Disco Inferno."

I'm with you, Hotflashgal, I loved that period of music and was a dancing fool then. My brother-in-law and I could "cut a rug," and I just loved all that music. Who could hear it and not dance?

I agree with JackieG about platforms being much easier to walk on than heels, especially the heels with pointy toes which hurt even when I was young.

And I LOVED disco! The high energy and movin' it to the beat. To me, disco and R & B are the best dance music, ever-forever. I have so many great memories from those times.
