Addicted to BWS forum contest only - 06/17/08 12:26 AM

Okay ladies, the books in my office are stacking up. I have so many to give away so I thought I'd do a contest for forums members only. The winner will receive five brand new books which have all been released in recent months by William Morrow publishers. They're great hard cover books that are currently for sale at major book stores. You can win a summer's worth of reading. Here goes.

Submit a poem or paragraph telling us why you are addicted to the BWS forums. No word count, but only one paragraph. You can do a little jingle, a poem, whatever you choose.

The contest begins now and ends June 30th.

Please submit to contest@boomerwomenspeak.com and put FORUM CONTEST in the subject line. You can submit in the body of the email or as a Word attachment. Please be sure to put your real name and snail mail address in the body of the email.

Thanks and good luck.

Okay, we have a tie. I know, how weak, but I couldn't help it.

The first is written by Dee:

Feels Like Home

Late, tired, unable to sleep, pink floppy slippers upon my feet,

I stumble to the place I love to be when the world is quiet and still

The colors pink and yellow greet me, A Place To Share From the Heart

Calls out in silent welcome as I yawn and settle comfortably in my chair

Scrolling down I search until I find a place that beckons me within

To a story, a poem, a tear, or a tale of life and love of past or present

Our Voices speak loudly in the silent- still dark of night

Lighting the shadows with hope, laughter, and friendship

Forums are the friends rarely seen, but who wrap their words of love

Around Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, and Wives

Coming together to share a common need

In a place that feels like home…our Boomer Women Speak.

Yeah Dee!

And the other was written by Eagle Heart:

Addicted to BWS
by Sharon C. Matthies

Time races by
The dust bunnies bloom
Under the bed
Untouched by my broom
While down in the basement
The whole world unfolds
A wealth of wise women
With stories they hold
Graciously sharing
Their laughter and tears
Wisdom, perspective,
Horizons and fears.
From each little corner
We gather and dare
To warm and encourage
With presence and care.
As hours pass quickly
And coffees grow cold
We journey together
Through day’s dusty road.

What do you day gals? Aren't they the best?

They will also be published in the testimonial page at BWS.

I have both addresses in the submission so this Friday I will mail book packages to be delivered to your doors. WHen I pack rhem, I'll include the titles firght here so everyone can see what you won!

Congratulations and thanks to all who entered.

Oh, I`m so excited and tickled by this that I`m dancing in my chair! Thank you everyone - congratulations Dee! What an awesome surprise!

I`m actually in northern Quebec right now, for a short vacation, visiting hubby`s family. It`s somewhat difficult finding time and opportunity to get online here, but I try to get here once a day to stay caught up. Even now, people are waiting for me upstairs to join them in yet another card game, so I can`t stay for long.

I love this community, and I really miss you - and WHOA, a huge crack of thunder just resounded - my BIL wants me to shut down his computer! Bye!!!

Re: Addicted to BWS forum contest only - 07/11/08 01:59 PM

Dee requested that I give the five books to a local community. I live right behind the Presbyterian Home and Dee happens to be Presbyterian so guess who's getting a surprise this weekend?

The five books were all donated by Williams Morrow/Harper Collins. I just love the way they donate books for our contests!

I gathered five books that I thought the elderly would enjoy. So here goes:

The Light Within: The Extraordinary Friendship of a Doctor and Patient Brought Together by Cancer, by Lois M Ramondetta, MD and Deborah Rose Sills

Ladies of Liberty, by Cokie Roberts

Clinton in Exile: A President Out of the White House, by Carol Felsenthal

Bulls Island, by Dorothea Benton Frank

Entertaining at the White House with Nancy Reagan, by Peter Schifando and J Jonathan Joseph

Dee, I'll give them with a note saying that you donated them. Do you want me to include your last name?

Dotsie...you can give the books on behalf of Boomer Women Speak...you don't have to use my name. I'm happy that Williams Morrow/Harper Collins donated books and I hope that the Presbyterian Home will be able to use them.
Thanks again, Dotsie, for the lovely gesture and I'm so glad I was able to do this because of the contest. I love this site.
Hugs hugs hugs!!!
