Has anyone ever heard of The League of American Poets??? website www.poetryamerican.com?? Well, they advertise a poetry contest and promise you an email when you submit your poem...well, I never got my email confirmation and guess what??? There is no contact email or number to get in touch with these people...I believe they may very well be taking original works and making it theirs!! Does anybody out there know anything about these people?? Please let me know asap...And, oh yes, thanks for listenenig to my very fine whine!

Rose, that's a bummer. Here's a couple links about sites like that:

You'll probably receive a letter saying your poem has been picked and will be published IF you agree to buy the book AND send them $50+ dollars - a lot of money for a book!

I know a woman who's in one of the books with several poems. She even paid to go to the ceremony to pick up the book. All she wanted to be was published. She's happy.

Rose,
You also might want to do a "google" on their name. I did and found numerous sites detailing them as scam artist. Here's another one:

Thanks for all the gooooood info!! But what do I do, if anything, about my poem? I understand that it's copyrighted in the USA as soon as pen hits paper but I will be using this poem in my book, so how do I prove it's mine???
