Snow Day and Procrastination

Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 08:39 AM

Overnight snowfall, roads not gritted, suspension of ALL bus services and some rail networks including mine. Am I whining? Heck, it'd be hypocrisy if I were to say I do not enjoy a day off work. But, what does one do when forced to stay at home by force majeure ? LOL!!!

OMG!!! Procrastination with pending household chores is something I am forced to resolve today. I have 50 boxes to unpack since my house was refurbished last summer. What a jolly Monday this is going to be.

I like it when your procrastination leads you to us, Lola.
What fun unpacking boxes. It's a nightmare, when you don't know where to put the stuff.

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 12:49 PM

LOL!!! Po, have you found something to while away time with as well? Service on the Central and District lines are pfffft!

Well...after unpacking the boxes which contained my CDs and DVDs, I have decided to proscrastinate further and leave the rest for later. Whenever that may be. Consider it a scientific exercise in proscrastination. Heck! Even typing such a looooooong word helps to add to the exercise so...I'll type it later and find something to "p" about. Oh, well...eventually. LOL!

Yep. A very lazy Monday. Sloth actually would be more apt. I have no contingency plan for days like today. I am trying to see how much further I could get with this exercise but, I procrastinate. Procrastinate over procrastination? Is it possible?

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 08:45 PM

No, Celt. Not tut as in king...more like Jamaican tut tut. Very common in southeast London.

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 08:52 PM

Well, I thought I'd shovel my pathway...then discovered I did not have a shovel. But, I had a dustpan. Then I looked at my pathway, then back at the dustpan. Guess what I did? What I can do today I put off for tomorrow. LOL!

Went over next door to my son and DIL's. She prepared clam chowder and then I went back in to mine and put Barry White on...the King of Lurve...then fell asleep. My son's unpacking my boxes now and helping my DIL put things away. Some to theirs. LOL!!! I supervise.

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 08:54 PM

You use heating oil? No British Gas up there?

Also spoke to my youngest grandson who insisted on speaking Welsh to me. God alone knows what he was talking about!
Posted by: Dotsie

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 09:59 PM

Lola, sounss like productive snow day to me. A bit of unpacking, chatting here, spending time with family - perfect - especially leaving the shoveling for someone else.
Posted by: chatty lady

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/02/09 11:06 PM

I have never seen anyone try to shovel(?)snow with a dust pan... Yikes Lola, you'd be shoveling till next winter. Let the snow melt on its onw, heck its only water after all...Shovel, smuvel, LOL!!!!

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/03/09 02:59 AM

yep gas is new to NI as thier was always the fear of it being bombed. some houses have gas it was a big thing it being brough back becouse of peace process.....ah thats the wonder of gas....ise't that how the jingle went.

yes oil lola and outside boilers with massive tanks... its trippled in cost at lest and ast year i know a few single parent families without oil so no heating in the house for mounths. This years been worse.

sounds like your familie looked after you well lola nice to see for a change. smile good you let them smile

why haven't you learned welsh?
Posted by: meredithbead

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/03/09 05:29 AM

Shoveling snow with a dust pan! Lola, that cracked me up LOL.
Posted by: Lola

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/03/09 07:28 AM

Yep. My son and DIL thought that my dustpan idea was going to be a backbreaking endeavour against a foot and a half of snow. Went back inside and considered table salt. Not enough, I reckon. So, the 6-month newlyweds decided it was a good idea to unpack the boxes, flattened and laid them out in the pathways.

I know some Welsh phrases, Celt. Enough to greet and thank people but, I find Welsh a difficult language to learn. Could also be a case of "old-dogs-new-tricks".

Some buses and rail services are still "inconvenienced" by snowfall. London was on a massive skive yesterday and some skiving is still likely for today. What an amusing and perplexing circumstance it must be for Russians. LOL!

But, then again, it really does not snow that much in the UK like Russia. We get rain.

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/03/09 01:45 PM

yea a cannadian online frend said it was -33 for them! i can't even imagine it but my canadian now heer frend said they have in house insolasion and heating systems that can cope with that temp, unlike us!

Has London survived the great white out? So, what was the final count? An inch? 6 inches? A foot?

Celtic, did you eat a hamburger with your hands, like it was intended? Do you eat your fries with your hands, or cut them up in small pieces and use your fork?
Posted by: celtic_flame

Re: Snow Day and Procrastination - 02/03/09 04:41 PM

Yep. I survived another white out i.e. another day off work. My road has not been gritted but snow has thawed out some where the sun shines in my property. In some corners and the back garden, I have thick ice and I wonder whether it'd have killed my daffs. Spent the whole day reading.

Eating ettiquette(sp)is one thing...but identity jokes are just taking things TOO far...like I mean to say...A Celt is a Celt is a Celt..end off, no disputing not even in fun. I take this matter very seriously indeed..and I am deeply shocked and miffed,
