Re: Louise, sample of your paintings - 02/21/08 02:44 AM

Oh brother are these pictures buried. I think I will have to wait until the weekend and try to dig out the box with the art pictures in it. Sorry. I tried to take pictures of the few I have still hanging, but they come out weird. I have the portrait of my dad in my computer room but the picture didn't come out right. I have a photo of one of my seascapes, one I did of the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME at work. I will bring that home tomorrow and scan it in. Then I'll see if I can find any of the portraits I did.

I hope you do and I can't wait, either.

Re: Louise, sample of your paintings - 02/22/08 01:39 AM

Okay, I found some pictures. The colors won't be as vivid. They are old pictures and taken from old cameras. This is one I painted of the Blizzard of 78. I did not paint it until quite a few years later. I got a ribbon on this one in a show. It was the street I lived on taken from my front porch. [image][/image]

This one is of my daughter in her senior prom gown. It must have been late 80's. The painting was huge. She never liked it.[image][/image]

Re: Louise, sample of your paintings - 02/22/08 01:45 AM

I painted this one twice. I gave them both away. One to a dear friend who moved to Truckee, Nevada. So this one traveled. It is no one in particular. I think I got her out of a magazine. It's not a good picture. The actual painting had much more color on the legs, etc. [image][/image]

A seascape I copied from one that one of my instructors did. It wasn't dark like this at all. I like mostly painting landscapes and seascapes. I won't leave this on here for too long since they are so big. [image][/image]

This is the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME. This is the one I had at work. All for now. When I find one of my dad or my husband or my mom that I did, I will post them. [image][/image]

The ones I posted were all done quite some time ago. Now, I want to paint again.

Thank you Meredith. Someday - maybe in the spring or summer when I can go out on the deck. Just don't have the room in here.

That's great Louise. I actually liked the seascape one that you copied from landscape. Technically it looks more difficult.

I haven't tried crashing waves yet..though goodness, we live near ocean..but where we live we don't get crashing waves that are high and super foamy.. unless one is further up north of British Columbian coast..

I enjoy landscapes myself..but now the possibility of making it multimedia/more abstract is starting to percolate in me..

Hey meredith, got any to show..even if you haven't painted in ages? I wanna see more gimster..

They're great, Louisa!!! Did you paint Marginal Way in situ? I have only done one portrait in chalk when I was 14 and even then it was only a copy of a Master. I've not done it since. Thanks for sharing these. I hope you find the time to paint again.

Orchid, in which thread can I find Gim's artwork?

Re: Louise, sample of your paintings - 02/22/08 08:08 AM

OW WOW, Louisa. I am so impressed!
Orchid, goodness I have so few. I had the tendency to give my stuff away. I wish I had the cobra I did for a boss, tho. That thing looked like it was coming off the paper for some reason. My X-boss is probably dead now... I ought to call his son and see if it's still around.

Lola, I don't know if they are still up. That was a while back and I've cleaned up my photobucket files.

I love the painting “Lady with white Legs” ! Ha, just gave it a title. I bet when one enters a room, all eyes are on her legs.
Your seascape is fantastic! I know how hard that is, especially painting rocks. Your blue-gray mixture for the shade in the snow is perfect. I am soooo impressed, Louisa!

Re: Louise, sample of your paintings - 02/22/08 12:16 PM

Thank you everyone. Hannelore, I did call that one, Lady With The Legs." I wanted to paint flesh and liked it because I didn't have to deal with a face. The hat intriqued me. I like painting crashing waves the best too. Renee, I don't even know where that painting is. I think I still have that one, but who knows where. I gave lots away, sold some and stored some in my daughter's attic. I have very few here now. Just no space. I started one once of 3 Elvis'. I never finished it. It was too hard to do 3 views of Elvis on one canvas. I got tired of trying on that one. JJ would have liked it if I finished it

Louisa, your work is lovely. I, too, absolutely love the lady with the legs. That's a fascinating painting and one I'd love to have at home. And of course your ocean scenes are an all time favorite and so well done...you're one talented lady!

Louisa, I just love the one on the street you lived on. Of course they are all good, but that one spoke to me. You are very, very, talented. Just love them!

Louisa, they are all beautiful! You're a very talented artist. I hope you have time to paint again. The one of your daughter is lovely. She's very pretty. Who doesn't love the shore pictures. The snow scene is fabulous, I think the colors are vivid. The lady picture is good also.

Lovely, simply lovely!

WOW...Louisa!!!! I'm just now getting around to this forum...goodness girl!!! You are an incredible artist. Each one is so beautiful and I love the one on your street with snow. You're amazing. How long does it normally take you to paint a picture from start to finish? Did you go to school or is it a natural talent? I'm so proud of you and what you can express with a brush and paint...not everyone can do this, me for sure, and I admire those who can. Congratulations!!!!

This quote is borrowed from an artist's bio, with her permission:
"Just as an ordinary human being must struggle to become a noble person, so the ordinary artist must struggle to develop those skills whereby he or she can express the creative impulse."

I thought it was pretty nifty.

Louisa your art is so very beautiful. It would be hard to choose just one. The colors are vibrant and clear on each one. I am so impressed and envious of you. What a great talent. I hope someday you'll try painting again. I'm sure you'll find them snapped up quickly here.

Lovely, simply lovely!
