Teenagers wanting to be younger??? - 12/11/05 07:16 PM

A couple of nights ago while my daughter and I were out having a sandwich (the day before her 18th birthday)I asked her what age she wanted to be. Her answer surprised me. She said, "six years old." She said that she and the other kids at school all agreed that six years old is what they'd like to be again. They felt it was a more fun and carefree time for them in their lives. There were no thoughts about college and careers.

Now who can argue with that?

I think anyone, no matter what age, looks back longingly at the carefree days of childhood. My kids and their friends when they were your daughter's age were very concerned about college and/or careers. They still are. Perhaps things have changed in the last 10 years or so.

Wanting to be 6 is a lot better than some of the 12 year olds I taught, who wanted to grow up much faster than was good for them
