I want to know how moms are dealing with and handling all the new threats of violence that seem to be surfacing daily. Are the concerns of today greater than that of yesterday or just different? As a 36 year old mother of three I wonder how previous generations dealt with threats of violence. Some may have sent their sons off to war or experienced first hand hostility towards their race. Any thoughts?

I too think about how all of this is impacting our children. My thought is this...I recall the racial riots of the 60's. I remember my dad going into the city to board up his place of employment when rocks were being thrown through windows and violence was running rampid through the city. I also remember the curfews and having to end play at an earlier time of the day. I wonder now why I wasn't stifled with fear. Sounds horrific! However, I must say that I didn't worry about it with my childlike mind like I do as an adult. Hopefully children are busy with their little lives and may think about what is going on in the world but don't carry the thoughts too far. I think the best thing we can do with them is love them, keep them going about their activities and answer their questions as honestly as we can.
