For many children, reading is a luxury not often experienced. To get books into their hands, ROR works with primary-care providers to emphasize to parents the importance of childhood literacy and its impsact on early education. Doctors give a book to the child at each checkup and tips and encouragement to parents. To keep this program operating, ROR accepts gently used and new childrens books. chatty, what a neat organization to learn about. I absolutely loved reading to my kids when they were little. It's so important for kids to have a love of books. Even with all the reading, only one of our three is an avid reader and it brings me tremendous joy. Who knows, maybe one day the others will get jazzed about it. One can only hope.

celtic, do you have any of the books that come with cassettes? You know - the ones where you turn the page when you hear the ding? That might be a good idea for when you're busy and can't put L in your lap.
