Wal-Mart banishing risque material? - 05/13/03 04:41 PM

How do you women feel about Wal-Mart banishing sales of MAXIM, STUFF, and FHM magazines from ALL their stores? In the past they have pulled certain issues of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED and IN STYLE magazines due to content. FYI, GLAMOUR and COSMOPOLITAN have been mentioned as the next magazines to be yanked.

My personal opinion is that I am grateful for any help we can get in withdrawing any type of soft porn/trash from the market, media, television, etc.

However, I know there are people who are up in arms. Why should Wal-Mart be so responsive to a small minority of their comsumer base (Christian groups)who object to that material? Any thoughts?

I think it's great that Wal Mart is pulling those magazines from their stores. I don't think they're catering to only a small portion of their clientel (Christians). I think there are a lot of people who think that it's a good thing that Wal Mart has taken a stand.

I actually think Wal Mart is making a good decision and it will bode well for them in the market place. They want to be a family place and they wil stick to that by eliminating products that aren't family friendly. I wonder what they will do in their electronics department with the videos, CDs, and computer games?
