There use to be a dentist in my hometown who's name was Dr. Yank and not far from his office was another dentist's office and his name was Dr. Pullet. I always thought they should have gotten offices next door to each other.

Re: Funny REAL Names - 01/11/07 01:39 PM

My first job was in an office of a graphic arts supplier and the general manager's name was Dick. There was another manager in a branch office and his name was Harry. When Dick called Harry on the phone, well, the 4 or 5 of us young office workers would absolutely crack up laughing with tears running down our cheeks. Harry? Dick here.

Funeral homes...e: Funny REAL Names - 01/11/07 08:45 PM

There are funeral homes in the area with funny names, i.e.--one is "Curtains" another is "Amigone." Those crack me up!!! The local locksmith's last name is "Keys." Mister Rich owns a bank.

Re: Funeral homes...e: Funny REAL Names - 01/11/07 08:58 PM

Bonnie, I have a picture of the Amigone Funeral Home. I used it in one of my newsletters. AM-I-GONE...A FUNERAL HOME! That absolutely cracked me up when I first heard about it. Can you imagine the jokes? I could write a whole dialogue just on this one place!

I can't compete with what ya all came up with, but I do recall that I was introduced by a well-meaning friend who said "blind dates aren't all bad," to a large fella....when I asked what his name was, my pal sheepishly told me it was "Lumpy."

Will be back soon....thanks again you funny folks!

Re: Funny REAL Names - 01/12/07 10:43 AM

You ladies got me belly laughing. I have a little story, not as funny, but it's really true.

When you translate my last name it means 'Black'.
Anyway, I once sold a house, and the sellers last name was 'Red'.
The house stood on 'Green' street.
The buyer's name was 'White'
and the notary's name was 'Brown.'
Afterwards we all went out for a drink and ordered a 'rainbow' cocktail.
We all got a big kick out of that.

Reality is stranger than anything Hollywood could dream up.
Marketplace client lists are a trip. I had customers, like: Honeydew Melon and Judy Petuddie. When traveling, I observe many cars are the same color as the houses they're parked in front of. And dogs 'n owners do resemble each other.
Ciao for now,

Worked with a guy who's last name was Screws. He also had it changed legally.

Another lady who lives up the road is named Candy. She married a Kane.

Then the worst, or best, I've ever heard was in Huntsville, AL, the HEAD of the Utilities Department was named Jack Frost. I am not lying either.

I called them from work one time to inform them that the ice storm has knocked out our power at home...I got, ""Good Morning, Jack Frost." I'm thinking, and yeah, Y0U are the one responsible for this!

Hannelore, I love your story. That's hysterical. I have to remember to tell my real estate friends.

This topic reminds me of having overnights as a kid. We'd lie awake at night and come up with similar topics, trying to find ways to say dirty things, then laughing our heads off. We even did it with names. It's one of the only times we could get away with saying Dick. I'm laughing about this now.
Posted by: chatty lady

I think...Re: A lot of names fit.... - 01/14/07 03:20 AM

Why Dotsie, not you!!! I can't even picture you're ever being risque let alone saying Dick without a Clark or Daphone after it....too funny.
