win an ipod

win an ipod - 08/16/07 01:00 PM

We have a new member of the NABBW whose name is Arlene Kole. She posted a link to her site in the Passion for Living forum, but I thought I'd also put it here so more of you can see it. She has a survey posted at her site. It's about music listening and buying habits. I just took it and it was interesting and well done. It's a surveymonkey survey so you know it's good.

One person will win a FREE Ipod for doing the survey. I know I'm going to win, but I thought you might want to do the survey anyway. HA!

You can find it at www.arlenekolemusic.com. Have fun.

Re: win an ipod - 08/17/07 08:22 AM

I had a feeling you thought you would win. Okay, I'll bow to the queen.

Re: win an ipod - 08/17/07 02:03 PM

JJ, I took that survey too - I'm not going down without a fight! But I keep wondering.... would I even know how to use an IPOD? I don't even text on my cell phone....

We can text on our cell phones?

What's a cell phone?

Re: win an ipod - 08/17/07 07:57 PM

Ha, you're all wrong. After I finished the survey I got a message that said I won. Ptttth!! LOL Just kidding!!

I use my cell phone to make or receive calls. I don't know how to text, although I did learn at one time on my old phone, but that's history.

I have an iPod, and love it. Never thought I would. I resisted one for the longest time. Hubby had one before I did.

Re: win an ipod - 08/17/07 08:04 PM

You gals are cracking me up.
Vicki I think you are one of the technical geniuses among us.
I just got an ipod...but have trouble getting a louder volume for our car speakers. Hardly anything goes smoothly, and sometimes that drives me up a WAAAAAAAAAALL !

Sorry...got a little carried away there.

Re: win an ipod - 08/18/07 05:15 AM

We just got our first hand-held (not cell) phone. And El Idioto put it in our bedroom, so if the phone rings in the morning... I am not a morning person, and can't remember how to turn it on when I'm still asleep, so I answer the phone in another room.

But I NEED the ipod for poker. my radio won't pick up at the casino and I am sitting there with dead headphones. Pick me! Pick me!
Of course if you win, you can always donate then to my worthy cause.

Meredith, when did ElHubo get demoted to Elidioto?

Re: win an ipod - 08/19/07 10:30 AM

My hubby has an ipod and just got a lap-top computer to take with him when he goes on the long RR trips. His daughter-in-law was shocked to hear that "old age meets technology". I have no idea how an ipod works but my husband loves his. But, if I do win I'll have my husband help me figure it out. Another gadget to stick in my ear, pocket, car, purse...AHHHHHHH.

Re: win an ipod - 08/19/07 12:30 PM

Dee, Ross also has an Ipod and so do all the kids. The next time I walk alone, I am going to take his with me. He has it set up in one of those arm bands my daughter gave him so he can use it at the Y.

I think it would be great is anyone from BWS won. When's the drawing?

Re: win an ipod - 08/19/07 01:18 PM

Me, too, Dotsie...having a BWS winner. Have no idea when the drawing is but I'm waiting with 'baited' (thanks JJ) breath to hear I've won...sorry Lionspaw. BTW Lionspaw...I LOVE your hair.

Re: win an ipod - 08/20/07 10:57 PM

Hannelore

First of all thanks to you and all the wonderful women who have taken the time to fill out the survey! I really appreciate your time! We are trying to get around 300 completed surveys but may stop at 200...so your chances of winning are pretty good!

Now Hannelore...your ipod problem...Hit your menu button until you see the "music," "photos," etc. There is a title called "settings," once there hit enter and you will see a new menu with the title "Volume limit," enter again...you will be able to adjust the volume output of your ipod so you can hear it in your car loud & clear!

Hope that helps...have a great week!

Re: win an ipod - 08/20/07 11:06 PM

Hi Gals...We are slowly creeping up there with survey participants...around 130 have completed the survey. I have the contest on my website and myspace page so we have some outsiders participatng as well (lol)!

Like I mentioned earlier we were aiming for 300 completed surveys but we also don't want this to go on forever. I'm going to estimate we will do the drawing in about 2-3 weeks. I will post it here as soon as it happens.

Thanks again for your time!

Re: win an ipod - 08/21/07 08:18 AM

Arlene, thank you for telling me how to adjust the volume.

My day is now filled with downloading for my ipod. This will be a no- cooking, no cleaning day today. Grandma is sooooo busy…tee hee….

'Scuse me while I turn the volume up. It's so irritating to hear grandpa and grandbaby cry for food….

Re: win an ipod - 09/06/07 01:30 PM

Does anyone know what the drawing is?
Posted by: ArleneKole1

Re: win an ipod - 09/08/07 03:49 PM

Hi Gals,

I just wanted to update you on the drawing. It seems it's difficult to get people to fill out surveys. I am at 138 responses so far and for this to really mean anything I need at least 200! I am going to push hard next week at a few other resources and hopefully have this ready to go soon. Thank you for your patience and I will announce when the drawing will be.

Arlene

Re: win an ipod - 09/09/07 12:52 PM

What a wonderful article, very inspirational. Girl, you sure don't look like a grandmother. You look fantastic.

I know you are collecting information in your survey, but I thought I'd share that we recently went to see Linda Ronstadt. Livingston Taylor was on before her. Now I'm a big James Taylor fan, saw him about a year ago, but had never heard or seen Liv. Well, I gotta tell ya, we went with two other boomer couples and we loved Liv. We even bought CDs and had our photo taken with him on the spot.

IMO, he stole the show. There are several reasons we liked him. He is an awasome performer. He sucked the audience right in by talking to us on our level and about things we could relate to. His music was great and his lyrics were over the top. They were definitely boomer lyrics that kept our attention the whole time he performed. It was like he was telling us a story. www.livtaylor.com.

So I guess my thought for you is that you must grab the audience by being real, which it sounds like you are most capable of doing. Then I would definitely write lyrics that your audience can connect with. That's my two cents even though you didn't ask for it.

Re: win an ipod - 09/12/07 01:39 AM

Hi Dotsie,

I checked out Livingston...I saw him perform live with his Dad a few years back. He is amazing!

Thanks for reading the article and yes my lyrics are mostly heartfelt. I have yet to play a show where someone doesn't cry...men too! I have been receiving some amazing stories from people who have listened to my music and how it has touched them.

Re: win an ipod - 10/30/07 11:19 AM

I heard from Arlene that the survey closes on November 15th. If you haven't done the survey, you may want to do so now. I'm hoping one of us win!

Re: win an ipod - 11/18/07 04:41 AM

Hey Gals we have a winner and we decided to send a copy of the CD to a runner-up! I'm just waiting for the confirmation from the winner and the ability to publish the name & location.

Stay tuned & again thank you so much for helping me! The survey (171 completed) is filled with information to help me achieve what most would say in the music business as "the impossible!"

Much love & respect,
Arlene

Re: win an ipod - 11/26/07 08:01 PM

Had a good laugh reading about everyone´s technical abilities/knowledge. I don´t have an Ipod yet..I have an MP3 player that gets me to work and home on the busses and keeps me in a very good mood. It´s so great. I text messages on my cell all the time..and wonder how I lived without it. If I forget it at home (very very rarely happens)..I have to go back and get it. How did I ever manage before, right??? But I think most of you are better at the computer than I am..so I won´t get over confident och awful here.

Think about sitting at your favorite spot..by a lake or in the woods..and in your ears flows the music you love..you are all alone and just FEELING it all..

Re: win an ipod - 11/27/07 01:44 AM

Be my luck Smokey the Bear would come up behind me as I engulfed myself in Mozart, and he would be hungry. The bear, not Mozart.

Re: win an ipod - 11/27/07 06:23 PM

Ok, you got me there! he he!!! I suppose I could meet up with some moose..but I haven´t yet. Well actually I did once when I was still determined and younger..and used to jog in the early morning. On the last lap..in the woods..all upphill..I met up with a mom moose and her baby. I didn´t stick around to meet daddy, too. And I ran that last upphill lap in record time, believe me!!!

Re: win an ipod - 11/27/07 08:28 PM

Hi Gals,

The initial winner of the ipod did not contact me. We gave the person until yesterday to accept. I had a runner-up for a CD and that person has now become the winner. Again, I am awaiting a response and will notify you all as to the results.

Again, thank you all for filling out the survey. We have some great info!

Again, I really do appreciate all the help and wonderful positive energy that emanates from all the Boomer Women.
