Facing Knee of Hip Replacement Surgery?

Facing Knee of Hip Replacement Surgery? - 03/11/16 05:05 PM

My knee replacement happened in mid-January, and I will be done with my PT by April 1. And facing when to do the second one.

Wow! I've learned a lot, and I'm happy to start a discussion here on what I've discovered what I do differently next time...

So I thought maybe, since these surgeries are becoming so prevalent for us Boomers, it might be nice to start a discussion about it here. Who wants to join in?

What have you learned the first time that you'll do differently this time.
Glad you've got both of them behind you and can focus on healing. Just thinking about going through all that, freaks me out: Not big on pain, ya know.
Don't do doctors' and stay away from specialists. So I'm fascinated with how you're handling all this. It seems like such a major deal to me! God bless! confused

Hi Jabber,

Wow! I never answered your question on this topic of my knee replacements. What i learned is that recovery from the second one went easier than the first, probably because I had been doing my physical therapy to recover from the first. And as soon as I got released by the doc from the first knee, i scheduled the second one.

As a result of this knowledge, I still work out at the gym 3 times a week, even though both knees are totally healed.

My neighbor had a knee replacement. And my brother, too. She did really well with hers. He didn't do so good and said if he had it to do over, he wouldn't. So I guess it depends on the hospital and doctors' doing the work.

I've been experiencing sciatic problems all summer. And that's more than enough pain for me. It's dampened my love for the season. All I want is for it to be over.

With knee and hip replacement, you have to do the PT.

I am dealing with sciatica, too, Jabber. My PT told me staying active - and Ibuprofen would help - and they do.

But since I returned from my trip a couple of weeks ago, I have been suffering from a very sore shoulder.

If it's not one thing, it's another. But ill take it all over being dead!
