Newsletter copyrighting - 06/01/11 07:00 PM

I don't seem to find info for copyrighting a newsletter unless it is made for hire. Any ideas? Do any of you have your own newsletter? i have a newsletter in Spanish, NOT made for hire.
Any useful info will be appreciated.

Songbird, it's my understanding that anything you write is automatically copyrighted when you write it even if it's free; you don't have to register it anywhere. If you are sending your newsletter out, either in email or hardcopy, you can indicate on the newsletter itself that the material is copyrighted.

I found this article that talks about copyright and newsletters:

http://www.companynewsletters.com/copyright.htm

An excerpt from the copyright law:

Songbird, Yonuh's understanding of copyright is the same as mine. Hope this helps you move forward!

My poems when printed have a small circled c...to indicate that they are copyright. If used on a broadcast I have to "allow" the use.

Great info. I researched the copyright.gov website and learned that if I want them registered, I would need to basically register each number separately and that would be too costly for me, since it is a monthly newsletter. Thanks for all your help.
