Trying on new girlfriends for size

Trying on new girlfriends for size - 04/28/05 12:42 AM

I've been reaching out to new friends here and went out to dinner with a gal last night and we had a blast. I didn't know we had so much in common. Really, we just laughed all night and we have some of the same interests and like the same food and she's going to take up golf again, just like me.

I had a shocking experience this past week end. Went to a fundraiser with some girlfriends and one of them said she would drive all of us there, together. When we were ready to leave and it was creeping up toward midnight, she got really angry at us and said she was tired of taking care of other people and hauling our sorry asses around. We just sat there and stared at her. Completely unlike her...at least, I think it was. Maybe not. I thought it might be time to start meeting some new women! [Big Grin]

You know, if I wanted to be verbally abused I'd go find my ex husband!

Was there liquor involved? It can and does bring out the worst in some people.... [Embarrassed]

chatty, good point.

Dianne, I think it's a great idea to get out and make new friends at midlife. I especially like meeting people who have different interests than mine. It's refreshing! Something different for a change.

Maybe this person felt resentful because she didn't get enough thank you's for driving? Sometimes people volunteer to do something just for the praise they'll receive instead of feeling good about the actual task.

Or, it could be as Chatty said, a little too much alcohol and out comes Hateful Hanna.

I seriously doubt I'd ever get in a car with this woman again.

Stay friends.... But in the future drive yourself. And if necessary, tell her why.

Geez.

By the way, if she'd drank enough to alter her personality like that, she had no business behind the wheel anyway.
