Who's on Facebook?

I recently joined Facebook and am having a ball! I've found some people...what fun! I'm wondering if any of you have pages there?

I do...but I haven't done anything with it. I don't find these places "user-friendly." But then again, I don't have a lot of patience. Oh wait..yes I do...My kids say I have tons because I've never used any....

i am on facebook Lady Jane, i used to go in a good bit now its quite some time between my visistes.
I got feed up with all the applicasion sending lol but did enjoy the conversasions and frendships i was making.

i also changed my locasion just to make it harder to find me lol. as my location for real is so small the whole place find me lol.

I used to be on Facebook, but felt creeped out at times by some of the people who wanted to be my "friend". I started getting weird messages and lots of spam.

Interesting.....I feel the security is quite good. You can only view my page if I let you be a "friend." You can deny or accept any invitation. I've found it a great way to connect. My daughter got me into it. I've found a few old high school buddies, have some work friends and old church friends. It's been nice.....just wondering if anyone has used it. Thanks!

I am on Facebook as well as LinkedIn and MySpace. I'm not on there very often, but have found several people that are a 'blast from the past' LOL I do get 'friend' requests from people I don't know - those I just deny or ignore. I tried Second Life but couldn't get the hang of it; same with Twitter. Part of the problem is not enough time to thoroughly check out what's there.

No haven't put myself on Facebook and MySpace. It's enough for me to participate in 2 different internet forums after work.

Somehow probably through automated harvesting of links, I'm on LinkedIn via what I've done for my jobs that's already on the Internet. But profile not activated by me for expansion.

On lower list of priorities. This month, I just started a new job that involves developing and rolling out an organizational wide piece of software. Then need to get back into work-related organizations on the Internet.

I can't even look at more personal, non-job social networking web tools right now.

I'm on Facebook and MySpace. I'm trying to get with it.

I'm on Facebook and especially stay in touch with my younger relatives that way.

I signed up about a month ago when my son joined and 'invited' me to be his friend. I don't go there too often - I feel like I'm snooping on my kids when they were little.... But, on a whim, I did a search and found that several of my friends (listed in my email) are also members.

I' invited' them to be my 'friend' - at least they are in my age bracket. Can't wait to explore why they are on Facebook. Probably all joined because of their kids, also.

God, I feel old..... But, I think it's important to keep current. My Dad was just boggled over my the computer and had NO concept of the internet. As hard as it is to keep up with today's technology - if you don't 'use it - you loose it'

I've been on Facebook for some time now. Haven't used it much but did just today and accepted a couple of new friends. I think it's okay.

I've got a myspace page and an account at livejournal.com. I like them enough to go there quite often. Have some relatives at each one.

I have so little time that I barely can stand it but Facebook entertains me early in the morning. I get up just so I can check the news, weather and my Facebook online. It's new and fun for me but then, I do love my computer! If anyone cares to look me up, PM me here and I'll give you the info!

Ladyjane, I got back on Facebook this morning. I realized that all of the crap I didn't like was coming from one "friend". I don't really know her and don't remember how we initially connected - maybe she was my avon lady at one time? Anyway, she sends me lots of crap. I remember having to ask her about two years ago to stop sending raunchy stuff because I wanted my page to be family-friendly.

Anyway, this morning I deleted her as a friend. Why didn't I think of that before??? Duh.

Anyway, I only have three friends. I have no idea what to do there. If anyone wants to connect and 'be my friend', let me know. LOL. I feel like the new kid in school again.

I'm on Facebook. I quit doing all the little 'extras' when they became overwhelming. I don't poke anyone or give them flowers. *grin*

I´ve been on facebook for awhile too..and yes, I confess..it is due to my daughter and her family in the US...and now my younger son,too. But..it IS a good way to keep in touch..you can reach quite a few family members and friends easily all at once..so to speak..because your mutual friends can see what´s on your facebook..

And the fotos..that´s the best part of all..if your family is kind of scattered to the 4 winds.

I can recommend anyone to at least check it out..it´s fun. And then you have to learn that YOU are the master of your IT time..and not the other way around...

I also had some annoying applicasions and they wern't frendlie at all and all about sex, so i asked said ladie to stop, then i got comp within the place to disconect her so she could't send me anything again. Took care of the problem without losing her as a frend.

iv not been in in ages and last i was in i had 100's of applicasions so i got annoyed at clicking buttons back to people but chattings fun.

i have to try my space and bebo lol i on bebo but not done anything about it.

i like the idea of blogging like ann i sure i get to it one day lol.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what to do there?! I got on my facebook site last night, and then just sat there...I honestly don't know what to do. It's not like here, where we chat about all sorts of things. I find it very static, compared to the dynamics of BWS. I've joined a few groups there, but haven't found them interesting or enjoyable or sustaining enough. What do you DO when you're on Facebook?!

I prefer Myspace, and have a page there, but can't figure out what to do about my email address. It's changed, but I can't change it on Myspace because the confirmation emails go to my OLD address, so I'm not able to confirm the changes! Duh. I've emailed customer service on Myspace, but their emails go to the old address too! It's like a dog chasing it's own tail and never getting anywhere. Anyway, I'll try to connect with you there.

its recentlie been changed and their a new formate even profile pages are difrent and i can't find my applicasions or games.

with old way people sent you flowers-flying pigs to anything you can imagine and you'd send them to some of your frends they show up on your profile page. that part was nice BUT i got to point i was refusing them becouse i was just overwhelmed with them.

go to the wall's of your frends and write on them just asking how their doing or whatever and they do the same.

personal messages are sent via privatre mail as everyone can read whats on the "wall" on facebook.

find some sillie game to play, i feed and fought warewolves, vampires, zombies and monster slayers.

i also played a game called "owened" were you buy and sell your frends pics and you get more fake cash (points) and go high on a leaderboared the top 25 for an aerea is showen.
I made new freds via that game and also formed alleginses to help the "group" get higher on the leader boared.

thats about it.

i was in the other day and didn't know what to do as i did for last lot of times becouse of the changies lol. so like you i did nuthing. I don't have the time to learn it at present apart from sending privat messageds which is all i am doing now.

apart from the game owened and the monster stuff their was little direct interaction (apart from sending applicasions flowers etc) and private messages.

It not like this place and won't be unless your talking in one to one private messages or in group messages which can be fun.

I found that Facebook is more of a place to stay in contact with family and friends. It's not a forum at all, of course. You can share photos and stay in touch in short messages. You can jump to someone else's page and see their photos and what's going on in their life. Sometimes through that, you find other people you know and catch up with them. I love it!

And yes, Lynne look me up!

I am, only because GroovyUKlass wanted me to be. She and I write messages to each other, there. Linda has a more extensive setup than I do on facebook. The only time I use it, is when I get an email notification that she has written on my wall. Then I write her back on her wall.

yea its definatlie not a forum but via games you can meet a lot of new people from all over the world. I don' think you'd get type of frendships and connecting you'd get heer unless you alreadie know the person. About 3/4 of people that are my frends i do not know, about 1/3 i do did comunicate with regulary and a few quite sincerlie.

klady jane, eagle and lynn look me up too if you need help or don't rember my name just pm me i tell you the network and name so you can find me, and i either will or won't send you flowers or a knowme depending on if you want applicasions lol.

i glade to know as many people in amy age range use it i meet a good few but a lot of veery young ones too.

Eagle, in response to your question about what to do on Facebook: when I get my profile back up on facebook, I will use it as a professional place, updating readers about the progress of TEARS. For myspace, I try to have a little more fun!

I feel perfectly comfortable on facebook. Like I've said, I look up old classmates and church friends....it's fun. It literally snowballs with the more friends you have....the more you find!

Hi Jabber, thanks for asking. You mean "Project for TEARS: Telling Everyone About Rape & Suicide, which is in conjunction with my book Beyond the Tears: A True Survivor's Story. You see, I wanted to create a non-profit that would include going to schools, churches, etc. to speak up about child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence and its ramifications, such as drug abuse and suicide attempts. It is over my head and beyond my financial means to do a non-profit. So I call my work the Project for TEARS which 1) comforts victims by sharing my story 2) confronts society by breaking the silence 3) challenges people to think in terms of awareness. I'm doing my FB page tomorrow, meanwhile I'm on myspace and goodreads. And, it could make you crazy to be all over the place. In terms of my networking to bring forth the mission of my book, the internet has turned out to be fruitful. Lately, I sell more e-books and Kindle than paperbacks. Also, I like to see what other organizations are doing to bring awareness to child abuse, date rape, etc. Oh, suicide is on the increase. Between returning military and financial woes, no wonder why.

Girlfriends, I don't know how to "look you up" on Facebook. For example, I tried Donna Sh... but got lots of answers. So how do I find you? You can PM me if you want with your my space and facebook I'd appreciate that. But mostly I spend my time here. PL

iv no idea how to send facebook frend requests but i know it can be done via email. so if someone gives you an email address or you give them yours they can find you easier that way.

No, you can put any picture or none at all. My real name including my maiden name is my Facebook name. Jabber, I don't know the person you mention at all. The thing is you have a choice to completely ignore anyone asking for friend's requests. To add a friend you find the person and it always says "add as a friend." So you have that option.

LJ, but I don't know your real name, do I? So how do I find you. No one here is finding me, so I got to go searching for you all. Eagle found me on myspace. Otherwise, I am feeling rejected. I would have liked to "group" my BWS sisters. Dotsie, are you on Facebook?

lynn iv not had time to look for anyone on facebook and not experinsed enough.

if you pm them and ask for thir real name and network that help you find them.

its not meanness that iv not looked for anyone. I post heer, do my mail and if iv time i go and open facebook so i proioritese my computer time.
