...who wants to supplement her income!

...who wants to supplement her income! - 10/02/06 07:02 PM

My daughter is a SAHM (which I'm thrilled about) but wants to help her husband with finances. She is very good at selling on Ebay and would like to offer this service to others, for a commission. She is trying to think of a clever name and she really wants something Biblical - either an actual verse or something similar, where she can use the verse on a business card. She asked me if you all were creative and I said "absolutely!". Plus, you're all always so willing to help, so can you throw some ideas at me for her?
Thanks in advance and ((HUGS))

How cool, have to think about this awhile. I have two pieces of good jewelry. What would I do, send them to her so she can take pictures and advertise them. When and if sold she could then get the moolah and keep her portion and mail me mine? If that how it works? The middle man in these deals usually takes 30%.

Bluebird, she wants to help others sell their wares? That's a neat idea, I'd like more info too please.

Now for a scripture verse.....She sees that her trading is profitable...Prov. 31:19a

Blue, I've been giving this a lot of thought. I've been saying for over a year that I wish I had someone to sell my paintings for me on ebay, and I'd pay a commission. I've set the sales up myself, but I get bored watching the auctions. I've let my ebay and pay pal accounts lapse. I would email YD a description and picture. She could watch the auction for me and collect payment. Meanwhile, I'd do the shipping to the customer. Then, when all is said and done, YD would mail me my portion of the proceeds. I'd also love to start doing gift baskets again, and baked goods.

Starting over, I told her to look at Proverbs 31! That verse is perfect.
There are different ways to do it. You can (1) send my daughter the product and have her take the picture and post the listing. (2) Send her just the picture and you do the shipping after the auction is over. (3) Lynnie's way. I'm sure she would base her commission on how much she is doing. She said 30% was fair (and that's where she'd be taking the pics, doing the listing and shipping out the product). She even said the 30% would include all the Ebay and Paypal fees. The buyer pays the shipping so that's taken care of.
I can PM or email you all her email address. Her name is Katy.
Thank you so much for your interest! She and her husband really need the income.

I emailed her yesterday Jackie and so far no reply! Is she serious about this?

Yes, she is. She was checking with someone she knows that does it to make sure she knows how to handle it properly for others. Then today, a realtor was showing our house so we spent about 4 hours cleaning. We had to take the kids out while they showed it so we were gone for 2 hours and now she's off to church. I'm sure you will hear from her tomorrow.

Got an email from your daughter Kate this morning and am sending her my diamond jewelry to sell or try to sell. It is so nice having this service available from someone we can trust. I have alot of items to sell...and Kates service takes all the muss and fuss out of the process....

Wow, this is really nice to know. What your daughter would be doing is called Trading Assistant. There are some TA's listed on ebay. She could look into having herself listed as well.

Here is how I understand this works. The TA would do the listing and sell the product and then pay your portion of the sale. I had contacted one a few years ago. Only she was really negative about the products I wanted to sell, so I just didn't pursue it anymore.

Great idea! Bluebird, will you PM me your daughter's email?

Cheers,
Cathi

Katy is expecting some items from Chatty any day, so she hasn't tried to sell for anyone else yet. She and her husband mailed a whole bunch of items out this morning, as they've been doing for at least the last 4 saturdays. She gets nothing but excellent feedback. She prints out the invoices and the mailing labels. They have half a closet filled with shipping supplies in their office (they booted my grandson back into their bedroom, so they could make his room Ebay Central!).

I haven't sent my things yet because Kate wanted appraisal for the jewelry and I haven't had a chance yet to get to the jewelers. I will this coming week though. Had them wrapped and ready to go not knowing I needed an appraisal. It is a good idea though. I also have some real beauties. My son for awhile was carving hand made beautiful, brightly painted fishing lures. Each one is handmade, and tested for the water. He made a dozen or so via orders and gave the rest to me and I have never done anything with them. They are separetly wrapped and ready to go. Great gift for fisherman. Each is unique, one of a kind.

No problem, Chatty. We were just getting concerned that maybe they got lost on the way!

Hi Jackie,

I am new to the site however I do have an income opportunity for your daughter and if she sells on ebay, she already has computer knowledge. Sounds like she does well with people also and they are the only requirements. I left a 20+ year career as a bedside RN to do this and haven't looked back. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you info.

I sent you an email through the forum Cindy -- but I'm not sure it went through --

I'd be interested in hearing about your income opportunity

My daughter and I have some experience with ebay and are computer and internet savvy. Would you share the information with me too? I'm trying to build my writing business and sure could use the extra income right now.
TIA

Well I finally mailed my items to Kate, Bluebirds daughter, to sell on Ebay. If they sell I have plenty more unusual things. This sure takes the work out of it for me and hopefully isn't too difficult for Kate either. Lots of people advertise saying to send items to them to sell, but not everyone can be trusted. I am so glad to have someone thats honest and trustworthy....

Blue hasn't been around lately. I really miss her voice. Let me know if you want to email her because she might not see this.
