Where does Joy come from?

Where does Joy come from? - 09/07/06 01:52 AM

Hi Girls,

I belive joy comes from being in the present moment, smelling the roses, seeing the beautiful scenery and enjoying loved ones, now. Not living in the past or in the future.

What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Cheers,
Darlene

Darlene,

My joy comes from feeling fully connected to God and to my own inner self.

I have a feeling in my face that feels like the sun is shining on me, like I'm illuminated.

All the beauty around me just seems to 'pop' and I see things I normally don't.

I do feel joy when I savor joyful things from the past or visualize wonderful future events but I understand what you mean by being in the present moment.

What a lovely question to pose.

My joy comes from knowing that God is on my side, rooting me on, ready and willing to do and give me everything I need to live my life abundantly and with purpose.

I'm also noticing recently that I feel greater joy when I'm kind to others...that random kindness thing, just doing kind and helpful little things for strangers and loved ones, brings me such a rush of pure joy to my spirit that sometimes it even feels akin to ecstasy.

My Joy comes from knowing that " For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life".
God loves us enough to have made a way, a SURE way, for us to live in perfection with Him for all eternity...doesn't get any better than that!
Because of the above, I can truly love and serve others, with Agape love. It doesn't matter so much how others deal with me, I must love others with the heart of God. I need Him to show me every day, how to do that, but it can be done.

I find Joy in knowing that I have a good relationship with my family. Whenever we are all together, no matter what we are doing, I feel joyful and lucky to have them.

Darlene, I couldn't agree more! Living today, making the most of the gift of each day of our lives, brings Joy to the heart, and nourishes our minds, our spirits, our souls. I often rise before daybreak, and with steeping cup of tea in hand, make my way to the sun porch, to await the arrival of dawn. There is that moment, that soft, silent, hold-your-breath instance, when night fades into day...That moment never fails to touch some deep, inner part of me. I'm often struck by a very real sense of gratitude, for the Gift I've just received.

Someone said they didn't understand my reply, that it was vague...I guess I find so much joy in waking up each day feeling healthy, then seeing my pets happy little faces, being in my comfortable home and being independent. I know that I can stay home, go out, eat in or out, whatever, my free choices are endless. I always put the tea kettle on and head out doors to play with the dogs, smell the morning fresh air and see the glorious blue skys. I then come inside, pray and thank God for all the 'joyous' things he has given me....I am a joyful person and feel joy in even the smallest things.

Lola,

Thanks for the reminder, The man who married my husband and me, gave a speech about joy, Jesus, others and you. It was profound.

Cheers,

For me, joy comes from knowing God loves me with an everlasting love.

There are many things that contribute to joy, but the joy of knowing that God loves me with an everlasting love, that Jesus gave his life that I might enjoy salvation, is something that trials, heartaches or difficulties can never take away.

My joy comes from several places, Gods love of us. My childrens health and mine as well. When one has their health, I feel there is nothing we cannot accomplish. To me its not long life necessarily, but the quality of ones life.

For me, joy comes from many things. My pets, good food, good friends, good health,& the quietness or contentment of my life. Being able to wake up to a new day each day, a good cup of coffee, beautiful blue skies, all the colors of nature for my eyes to see, a warm or cool breeze caressing my face, birds singing, & the first sight of Spring or colored leaves or the first snow fall....to name a few. God has given us so many blessings...how can we not find JOY in that!
