Thanks for posting Georgia. Since we won't be spendign time gambling like we did in Vegas, I'm looking for suggestions for what boomer babes can do without getting into any trouble!

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/16/08 05:40 PM

Oh gosh! Boston! My home town!

I'm afraid, though, that I can't join you gals; not in April. It's not a convenient time to visit my brother,..and if I flew over I would want to stay a couple of weeks with him. Besides, in April we are getting company from the States.

Oh well, someday I will rent a trailer and visit all my Boomer sisters one by one. ...ding dong... guess who?

Egads. Time to change the date. It wasn't on this calendar I have in my office.

Back to the drawing board.

I can't believe that neither of us caught that....I mean, with these two great minds at work here? Hello?

Actually, we knew DD, we were testing you all....YOU PASSED!

Whattt?

Ha ha...Never a dull moment when I come in here.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/17/08 07:46 AM

I didn't check out when Easter is either! Haha...one of those brain overload problems.
But I still think you are both cute bunnies.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/17/08 12:27 PM

The only reason I knew it was Easter is because my son is still in high school; I checked his school calendar. Otherwise, I wouldn't have known Easter was coming until I saw all the pink marshmallow candy in March. (or will they start putting it out in February, right after Valentine's day?)

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/17/08 08:13 PM

Couldn't we just be the EASTER BOOMERS? I'll bring the EASTER CANDIES, and deviled eggs...
Posted by: Dancing Dolphin

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/17/08 10:15 PM

Chocolate! I want Easter Chocolate Bunnies and Cadbury eggs and ... I think I also want a white cake with white frosting with tons of coconut on it!

Guess I'd better get through Halloween first... why is there so much cheap candy in the store?? I feel I MUST buy it just to save money! And then SOMEONE has to eat it. I do my part, okay?
Posted by: chatty lady

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/18/08 02:26 AM

Very funny DD, and thats an excellent reason to eat candy, its cheap and needs to be cleared off the shelves to make room for the Christmas goodies.

Hey have the stores gone nuts where you live? Here they are already filled with Christmas stuff and Halloween hasn't even come and gone yet. Geesh!!!!

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/21/08 02:29 AM

So, now what?
Posted by: Dotsie

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/21/08 11:32 AM

We need to come up with another weekend. I wanted to do it in March, but DD mentioned that it might be too cold there in March. I don't want to do it after Easter because that time of year gets busy with graduations, weddings, and special school events.

What do you think of Boston at the end of March?

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/21/08 12:20 PM

I think you better pack some winter clothing. Are you sure you don't want to consider one of the last two weekends in April?
Posted by: ladyjane

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/21/08 08:15 PM

I'm all for that. The northeast is pretty cold and bleak in March. This is why I was one of those that was pushing for a date soon after your last weekend so that we had time to save, etc. Now it could be as soon as 5 months from now.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 12:38 AM

Count me out in March, brrrr...

Plus theres no way I fly in the winter with ice and sleet and rain, oh NO!

Oh well, maybe the year after next, I may still not be needing a wheelchair yet by then, but time is certainly flying by. No pun intended.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 01:55 AM

What a gorgeous picture, Mij.
I don't have winter clothes for that type of weather if the pic gives us the idea of what it would be like.... even though I'd love to experience something like that at least once.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 06:01 AM

Wow, Mij...you should enter that picture in a photo contest. I'm a member of a photograph site, and pictures like these win first prize.

Mij

nothing quite like snow to highlight hard landscape.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 10:28 AM

It is a gorgeous picture Mij, snow is always pretty when you're inside where its warm and dry, and the cold, wet stuff is outside...

And by golly Dancing Dolphin, if I could, you know I would!

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 01:01 PM

Good golly miss molly...that looks like something straight out of Little Women. No thank you. I'm from the South and if it gets below 50, we rush out and buy milk, bread, and chocolate. I can't imagine living in THAT! Now's it's beautiful, but the only place I want to see it is on a postcard. Eeeek!

How about MAY?
Posted by: Dotsie

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 04:01 PM

Mij, that photo is beautiful, but that's not what I had in mind!

One other idea and then we'll make this big decision. What about Orlando, FL in March? There is certainly tons of stuff to do there.
Posted by: chatty lady

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/22/08 10:56 PM

I may be speaking out of turn but what's wrong with coming back to Las Vegas? Everyone has either seen or wants to see the place and in March or April the weather is mild, sunny and just plain gorgeous. Better food anywhere else, more to see anywhere else, more to do if you don't want to gamble, anywhere else, I THINK NOT!

It is just so we can be together right? Have fun and let our hair down so why does it matter where we do it? Lots of specials here too because of the loss of many tourists. Whatever you all decide, I'll most likely be there.

If you decide on Vegas or near here, and I don't have to fly, I will buy dinner for EVERYONE...I also know the best show in town to see and I can get us all in. Not expensive but bring your Depends, because you'll wet yourself laughing.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/23/08 02:23 PM

I was thinking it would be fair to offer it in different parts of the country. But I appreciate your offer. Some on the east coast might not want to fly all the way to Vegas, but they might attend this year because it's closer to them. See what I mean?

chats, hoping you'll fly to the east coast!

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/23/08 05:11 PM

Be great for me since I live there. Orlando in March is really nice. Not too hot yet. Lots of things to do if you've a mind to sight see. I'm sure you can get reasonable hotels.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/23/08 08:12 PM

:interrupting the conversation to say thank you for the compliments on my picture. smile we now return you to your local programming:

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/24/08 09:14 PM

I think it's easy to fly into and easy to get around too because most of the hotels have buses. Any other thoughts on Orlando?
Posted by: Dancing Dolphin

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/24/08 09:33 PM

I always prefer warm destinations. But my spring is busy next year, so don't plan your dates around me. I truly want to come, but it will depend on your dates.

Ryan is in drama and vocal point (competition choir) this year and I can't believe the number of practices and performances he's had already. Doesn't look like it's going to slow down either.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/26/08 10:56 PM

I suppose the best thing to do so as not to drive yourself insane Dotsie, would be to PICK A PLACE! Then the DATES, and anyone who wants to come, and can, WILL! Those that cannot, WON'T. Because if you try to please everyone we will NEVER all be satisfied. Plus, over the coming years we will all meet at some time or another, hopefully. It's as simple as that...

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/27/08 12:03 AM

I agree...

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 10/27/08 12:30 AM

I guess Dotsie, it's hopeless to plan for an international spot..ie. up in Canada if a Canadian member is willing to book a place.

Anyway this is a thought after 2009, there will be a light rapid transit train that will take one straight from the airport to downtown Vancouver.

Amtrak /Via rail train station and Greyhound buses are downtown...a 10 min. walk also from a skytrain station.

I would suggest maybe 2010 after the Olympics are over??? And things are cheaper abit. laugh

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/13/08 02:24 PM

Yearly, the first two weeks of March hubby and I spend in Orlando, well Kissimmee. That's close. We always flit around there. If you'll let me know where you'll be, I'd love to meet you ladies. What a thrill that would be! What dates do you have in mind? Just wondering!

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/13/08 06:00 PM

We were planning a trip to Florida in or around March. I was thinking about taking my metal detector to a beach. Any news on Dates?
Posted by: chatty lady

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/14/08 12:56 AM

If you do Chickadee go to where the ritzy hotels are right on the beach. Lord only knows what these people drop and don't even know it or probably even care. Champagne and indifference can cause many good treasures to fall into the sand...

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/14/08 11:20 AM

Chick, a metal detector on a Florida Beach? You might collect alot of artificial stainless steal knees and hips....with the bodies attatched. hahahahahahahahah

Gosh I feel so silly today.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/14/08 12:40 PM

Just a thought about Orlando -- y'all might be able to find some good deals, all the theme parks (Disney, Universal, Sea World) and the hotels in the area are complaining that business is down what with the economy and all.

If y'all end up in Orlando -- I can join you! It's only about a 45 minute drive, depending on where in Orlando you'd be.

Looking forward to hearing what the date and destination are going to be!!

I'm diggin up bones.....ha ha. I have found some stuff in my own back yard with that detector. Found a first World War Dog Tag with the owners name stamped in it. Still researching to find a family to return it to.

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/14/08 07:28 PM

chick,
You should take up geocaching! Some of the caches even have
money in them. How about that>>>>
Posted by: chickadee

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/14/08 09:40 PM

Jabber,I would probably enjoy it. I am always fascinated by things that I cannot see yet. ie. Fishing, Metal Detector, Poker...
Do you Geo?

Re: 2009 Annual Boomer Babes Weekend - 11/15/08 02:36 PM

Hi Chick,
Yes. Hubby and I have been geocaching since May, 2008. Last Christmas I gave him a GPS. Some wonderful online GPS'er told my guy about geocaching. We've been having a ball ever since. As of today, we have 303 finds. We have hidden 5 caches ourselves; one of them is a puzzle, cachers have to solve before they can locate the co-ordinates of the hide. It is loads of fun. Geocaching is a worldwide treasure hunt. It gets you out and into parks and forestry and trails you otherwise would not
frequent. We love it when we go on vacation because we've seen areas ordinarily not explored. There are various internet sites where a person can get acquainted with the particulars of the sport.
